History
The historical roots of Assumption Parish began as a mission chapel of St. Ursula"s parish.  In 1927, it became the mission chapel to the newly founded St. Joseph"s parish in Limeport.  The mission chapel became Assumption Parish with Fr. Wm. Drobel as its first pastor in October of 1952.   Fr. James Hanlon was appointed pastor in 1968 and opened a school and convent.  St Joseph"s and Assumption schools consolidated in 1977 to form St. Michael the Archangel School.
Upon Fr. Hanlon"s retirement, Msgr. Robert Coll provided leadership in the fostering of community and the expansion of facilities necessary to meet our growing parish"s needs.  Msgr. Coll retired in 1996, and Msgr. John Martin is our current pastor.  With a membership of 1,100 families, our community continues to grow in body, mind, and spirit.
Assumption parish is a member of the Allentown Diocese.
Vision
The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is dedicated to becoming a community of disciples of Jesus Christ. As disciples, we make Jesus Christ a living reality in the lives of the members of our parish family. By guiding and encouraging our people to discipleship through a heightened awareness of our Lord"s presence in their lives, the parish community becomes a visible and active expression of the living Christ in our world today.
