1. 1870- 1877 Rev. Michael Andrew Echallier Fr. Echallier was ordained by Bishop Jean Baptiste Salpointe, the first Bishop of the Arizona Territory (Arizona, southern New Mexico and El Paso county in Texas) in 1869. Fr. Echallier was then assigned to Assumption Parish and the Gila Settlements as his first pastorate in 1870. At the time, there were only two other priests in Arizona, one in Tucson and one in Yuma.
2. 1877- 1880 Rev. Jose Maria-Leclerc  
2. 1880- 1885 Rev. Edward Gerard Fr. Gerard, a native of Reims, Brittany in France, was the first priest ordained in Arizona on February 2, 1877. He journeyed twice a month, by horse and buggy to the Phoenix missions, fording the Salt River near Tempe. He is responsible for building two mission churches in Phoenix. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel was built near the Salt River in Tempe on March 10, 1861. The Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was built in Phoenix in 1881.

6. 1900- 1901 Rev. Joseph Bezarnat Judge Miller and his family lived in the convent and cared for Fr. Bezamat until his death on August 15, 1901

20. 1941- 1957 Rev. Joseph D. Jacques, OCD Fr. Jaques was born on December 17, 1900 in Tarregona Province in Spain. He joined the Carmelites and was ordained in 1923. He came to America in 1929, to Arizona in 1931, and to Florence in 194 1. Fr. Jaques was noted for his devotion to the townspeople and for strict obedience to his priestly vows, He was a spiritual man, with little regard for material things, but he was also outgoing with a vibrant personality and a keen sense of humor. Fr. Jaques had great compassion for the sick, the poor and the troubled. There were more than 7500 POWs north of town with no one to tend to their spiritual needs. Fr. Jaques taught himself Italian and German in order to minister to them. He also served as chaplain for the Protestant POWs. Jaques Square in Florence is named as a tribute to him.
21. 1957- 1959 Rev. Alexander Leoni, OCD Fr. Leoni was the last Carmelite to serve as pastor of Assumption Parish.
