At Special Masses like Christmas midnight Mass, Fernando Arriola played the Violin. The Masses at that time would last 2 to 21/2 hours, that was called: A HIGH MASS. August 15th, the Assumption of our Blessed Mother, we always had a High Mass, and we would have one or two visiting Priests for a Concelebrated Mass, BEAUTIFUL! All the Congregation would Dress-Up, for that occasion, also at Easter Time. Dresses, Hats, and Gloves, Men wore Suits. After some of these Masses, refreshments were served and it was a pleasure, Padre Narciso Genemates came from Morenci, or Globe, Az. and would sing El Rancho Grande, and other Popular songs of that Era. Padre Basilio Delgado was the Parish Priest for many Years. He visited our Home frequently and would bring us girls Rosaries. We also had Father Amancio Menubens, a very strict Priest. No sleeveless blouses or dresses and we had to Cover our Heads with hats or scarves. Reverend Henry Heitz, when Parish Priest, visited the Ranches out of Florence. He visited the Manuel Ramirez Ranch, at Picacho, Arizona. The Salazar's, Arujo's and Valdenegro Ranches. He said Mass, Baptized etc. My Mother's Aunt, Engracia (Grace) Brown Meneses used to tell us about Father Heitz. He came from Europe, of German Descent. He was very Comical and Funny, and had to get used to the Desert and Dry climate, and of course the Food here, Mexican cooking. But it did not take him too long. He enjoyed the carne seca, frijoles, and tortillas, plus other good Mexican food. Ramon Arballo was a Merchant, associated with The Michea-Arballo Mercantile Company, They sold General Merchandise from: Peanuts to Farm Implements Adeline and Raymond Arballo graduated from: Florence Union High School 1932, class and 1942 class.
