Family Histories: Elliott
Reverend Bryan W. Sherry, J.C.L. Church of the Assumption 221 East 8th St.Florence, AZ 85232 Dear Father Sherry, In reference to your letter regarding the Anniversary celebration of the church, the following is a brief history of the Allen Elliott Family: Harvey Elliott, Sr. was the son of William Elliott and Carmen Barragan Elliott, somewhere in the 1880's or 1890's. Harvey married Lola Robles and their children were Bill, Harvey 11, Walter and Allen. Harvey Sr. worked at the Arizona State Prison most of his life and his wife Lola was a seamstress. Their son Allen married Amelia Padilla in 1942 and they had one son named Allen Joseph. Young Allen married Kathy Ramirez and they had two children, Chad and Michelle. Allen later divorced Kathy and married Beverly Van Haren. All this happened in Florence and many of the records are in the Church of the Assumption. During World War 11, Allen worked at the warehouse of the prisoner of war camp north of Florence. After the war he went to work at the Arizona State Prison until his retirement after twenty years there. Allen Joseph is currently a member of the faculty at Central Arizona College. His wife Beverly is a secretary at Florence High School.
