Family Histories: The Lippert Family

11-4-1995

THE LIPPERT FAMILY

Rita Catherine (Eckert) and Lawrence (Larry) Lippert moved from Buffalo, New York to Florence, Arizona in 1948. Larry had requested a transfer from his Post Office job in Buffalo to a drier climate in the West and an opening was available in Florence. The family stayed here and raised five children. All received their First Holy Communion and Confirmation within the Assumption of Mary Parish.

Larry's service as postmaster allowed him to know almost every person within the community. He was well liked and put the church and his family's needs above all else. Larry was the organist at the church for many of the years and played for many weddings as well. He played piano in several bands in this area, and before, in big bands in Buffalo. He was a charter member and organist for the Florence/Coolidge Elks Club. Larry retired in 1973 and cared for his wife, who has MS, until he finished his earthly mission December 3, 1991.

Rita was a homemaker until the children were in school, then started working part-time with Pinal County as a switchboard operator and then in the County School Office. She was the secretary to the Central Arizona College Board for nine years before the college was even built. She was a religious education instructor for the fifth grade, an active member of the Junior Women's Club and loved to play bridge in her spare time. Rita is living in Florence at the same residence of forty years.

Mary Ann (Lippert) Lenox is living in Tucson and has been married to Joe for thirty-three years. She has four children and three grand children. Mary Ann was an active member in the Assumption Parish Choir and CYO. This commitment still exists as she is active in the St. Francis de Salles Chorale and Contemporary Singers. She inherited her dad's love of music.

Thomas Lawrence Lippert is living in Winnsboro, South Carolina. He has two children and is an Industrial Technology teacher in the local junior high and high schools. In addition he teaches a masters level management course for Webster University. Tom served in the Navy for twenty-four years and retired as a Command Master Chief. Within that time he attained an Education Specialist Degree. Tom returned to Florence for a couple years and taught Confirmation Classes. He was an alter server for many years with Father Jaques.

Nancy Katherine Lippert is living in Glendale, Arizona. She was very active in the Florence schools and participated in many sports, clubs and earned many educational honors. Nancy is a member of St. Rafael's Parish.

Carolyn Jeanne (Lippert) Brown is married and living in Coolidge, Arizona. She has two sons in college and works with the Coolidge Public Schools. Her husband runs their farm. Carolyn was also active in the Florence schools and participated in several clubs and cheerleading. She is an active member of St. James Parish.

Daniel Leo Lippert is living in Florence. He is Administrator for the Child Support Enforcement Unit of the Pinal County Attorney's Office. He graduated from Northern Arizona University. Daniel serves as a minister of the Holy Eucharist in our parish.
