Family Histories:

ANTONIO PADILLA FAMILY

November 18th, 1995

Our grandparents on our Mother’s side were Pedro and Catalina Rios Gallego, and they came from Santa Cruz, Sonora Mexico, to Florence in 1910 and settled here with their children: Catalina, Victoria, Salome, Isabel, Petra, Aurelia, Manuel and Guadalupe. They all became citizens and lived the rest of their lives in the U.S.

On our Father's side were our grandparents, Emeterio and Mercedes Sesma Padilla, who lived in Florence and bore their children here. They were Emeterio, Antonio, Jose, Alfano, Adolfo, Rafael, Manuela, Isabel, Nieves, Beatrice and Mercedes.

Our Father, Antonio Padilla, married Catalina Gallego in 1917. They homesteaded on a farm Northeast or Florence and lived on produce of the farm and a few head of cattle, horses and poultry. Our life was a happy time when we were growing up, although we all had our share or chores. The children in our family were: Amelia, Herbert, Raul, Elodia, Edilia, Hildardo, Edward, Lucille, Eva, Tony and Betty.

We all have records in the Church of The Assumption, such as Baptisms, Confirmations, First Holy Communions, Marriages and Funerals.

In l953, our parents retired from farm life, since almost all of our brothers and sisters were now married and had left home. So, they sold the farm and moved to Tucson, where they enjoyed the rest or their lives with so many friends and relatives around them. They are now dead and buried in the Holy Hope Cemetery in Tucson.
