Family Histories:

ROBERTO RAMIREZ FAMILY


Jose and Guadalupe Ramirez lived in Florence during the late 1800’s and early 1900's, and they raised five children, all of whom were born in Florence. They had three sons; Issac, Francisco and Margarito. They also had two daughters; Getrudes and Maria.

Margarito Ramirez married Artemisa Alamo and together they raised three children, all of whom were born in Florence. Their oldest born in 1902 was Mercy, next born in 1904 was Manuel and their youngest born in 1906 was Roberto. Margarito held several jobs, from a local businessman-barber and shoe repairman, to a Constable/Marshall and a deputy under Sheriff Magee.

Margarito and Artemisa’s children all lived in Florence. Mercy married a cowboy/ranch hand named Leonard LeBaron. Mercy LeBaron died in 1952 of a heart attack, while living at the A-Diamond Ranch east of Florence. The LeBarons had no children. Manuel Ramirez married Amelia M. Rodriguez and, together, they had nine children, fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Manuel worked all his life in Florence at the State Prison, and died in 1995.

Roberto Ramirez married Mercy M. Rodriguez and, together, they had five children, seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
