Family Histories: White

Scottsdale, Arizona
Oct. 4, 1995
Frank Celaya

Dear Frank:

Here goes! I'm trying - !

Family background. Carmen Robles came here with her two sisters and three brothers with their cattle. She married J.B. Michea, recently freed from French army in support of Maximilian in Mexico. Four children, Natalia, John, Claude, and Louis raised their family there, including now:- Fred G White, fourth of the name, now living in Florence, and John B White in a nursing home in Chandler. (We 3 are the survivors, plus Fred + Natalia White, now residents).

Special memories of the church are vague or trivial. I remember the fans we had, made of cardboard with a wooden handle. The cardboard had a picture on one side, and advertisement of some big store on the other. Once it snowed in Florence, and there was actually snow on the roof. We children were very impatient for Mass to end because we knew that snow would melt and slide down the steep roof. We wanted to make snowballs!

Alvin Brunenkant was a good helper in many ways. He collected offerings, lived 1 block or 2 west of the church. I hope your celebration goes well.

Best regards,

Martha W. Nelson
