Catechesis and Theological Reflections
The 2nd Ministry emerges as our participation in the Church's mission of proclaiming the Good News to all.  It is characterised by a special attention to the conditions of the beneficiaries in the process of communicating the Christian faith: it deals with the way in which the sharing of the Good News reveals the authentic face of God and is significant for human existence. The ministry of evangelisation is motivated by charity, since there is no greater act of charity than that of helping one's neighbour to love God, and aims at doing this in the heart and in practice. The privileged beneficiaries are those who are exposed to the risk of being ignorant of God's love, especially the youth and the poor, because Jesus is not loved because he is not known. In view of such a charismatic physiognomy, the sources speak of the custom of the Institute, which requires of the community of the Daughters of Charity to assume the formative role, creating an environment whereby the Sisters learn to break the bread with simplicity, devotion and respect.

Globally, within the Canossian experience, the charismatic character of this ministry demands special attention to the contexts within which the communication of our Christian faith takes place and to the difficulties encountered by the beneficiaries in welcoming the Good News, due either to situations in life, personal or environmental experiences or to the inadequate presentation of the Christian message. Our charism is at the service of such a faith journey as the person matures in faith.

The motive which inspires our evangelising ministry, which sustains and makes available the resources of the Sisters, which shapes their attitudes, is charity, God's love fully expressed in Jesus Crucified.

The scope is to encourage the beneficiaries to respond with the heart and in action, in order that the faithful may lead a life full of charity and love as the life of every Christian should be: it involves fostering the authentic art of freedom, the decision to love as one's personal response to God and to others, in view of building unity within the church and a more just world.

The whole operative, communicative and formative process allows us to recognise a fundamental harmony: everything is moved by the love of Jesus, tends towards nourishing it, according to modalities which the same love inspires and which, in retrospect, shapes the physionomy of this ministry.
