A very special birthday

The Canossian Lay Missionaries celebrate their 10th anniversary

Sr. Natalina Biffi's stopping over in Singapore for three days had sparkled excitement among us and we, the Canossian Lay Missionary Group unanimously jumped at the idea of celebrating our 10th Anniversary.

Before this piece of news, no one had taken count of the years spent in the group. Now, what a better way than to have the founder of this Canossian Lay Missionary Group here to grace the occasion.

The organizing committee met and everything, - from programme to catering of food was arranged, unbelievably in less than ten days. All these were motivated by two obvious reasons:

1. the love and admiration of our founder leader who, in her speech espoused the growth of a seed to a "fully fledged plant" for a common goal, to reach out to others with love and compassion.

2. the realization and fulfillment of our Mission Statement - sharing the Canossian ideal of "making Jesus known and loved".

We were fortunate to have CICM Fr. Anger Luciano to celebrate the Holy Eucharist for us. Fr Angel 'confessed' that until then he didn't know that such a group existed in Singapore. A personal composition of her psalm of praise to the Lord, thanking Him for the marvelous things He has done through the CLM was read by a member of the group during the celebration.

Judy Teo, Georgina Sng and Chong Ah Choo were the 'stars" of the celebration, receiving the Pioneer's aware. They were the few who started the group with Sr Natalina before 1992.

Sr. Janet Wang also gave an encouraging speech, advising members of the various ways of serving the less fortunate.

Sr. Veronica Sng thanked everyone and expressed her joy and commitment to the group.

I,  too, take this opportunity to thank the Canossian Sisters, volunteers and benefactors for their unflagging support. Without them we, the
Canossian Lay Missionaries would not have had such a special birthday.
