2.00 p.m. Saturday 7th Sept.: the foyer of Goodwood Park Hotel was buzzing with activity.  Sisters, principals, past and present teachers, prefects, students and one male teacher notwithstanding, gathered to celebrate the Canossian Alumni's 25th Anniversary as well as the Alumni's 25th Annual General Meeting.

There were hugs and kisses everywhere among the approximately 180 who came.  I counted a handful of grandmothers present who attended SAC.  Wow, what loyalty!  Lips upturned in perpetual fashion and the warm, happy chatter of friendship permeated through the tastefully decorated Tudor Room.  That odd, indescribable feeling we felt during our school days crept round our veins to the point of a yearning ache in our hearts for our younger and more spirited days of learning.

My guess would be right if I can say that when Sr Janet Wang, Sr Christina Yeo and Sr Angela Ng went upstage to update us on the current activities of the Canossian Sisters' the minds of every single one present travelled through time as we recalled our SAC and Canossa days.  We were urged to "keep the Canossian spirit and fire burning".

We were informed that there are 64 Canossian Sisters presently who unstintingly run the myriad tasks for education and charity in Singapore.  Just think, 64 versus the thousands of us who, if we joined hands with the Sisters and contribute in any small way, would make a huge difference to promote the ideals of our alma mater.  I think we may have started many fires burning that fateful afternoon when, as a grand finale, Susanna Ho, our vibrant emcee, led everyone in unison, or may I say united everyone in common endeavor, to the tunes of our school song "Cheers to our motto ! VIA, VERITA, VITAS!"
