30th August 2002,
the Canossian Eduplex honored its staff and teachers with a party packed with fun activities and a yummilicious hawker-style lunch.

The Canossian Eduplex Staff Day was so named because it was more than just an occasion to celebrate Teacher's Day.  It was also the first major attempt of the Eduplex Strategic Team to gel the five sectors of the Eduplex into one big family.

Volunteers and staff facilitated the nine activity corners of art therapy, yoga, foot reflexology, hand reflexology, line dancing, "qi gong" and wellness, beauty parlour, tombola and magic.

To say that the food was great would be an understatement.  It was a sumptuous spread of hawker fare consisting of laksa, mee siam, satay, kueh-kueh, apom, rojak... the list goes on... It was indeed a day when everyone gave of their loving best.  To top it off, many answered the call to give their Tombola takings to the church building fund of the Parish of St. Stephen.  Wow!  It was truly a day to renew the pledge to continue to build on love.

Celebrations began at the end of the school day with a group photo and a cake-cutting ceremony.  It began to drizzle as everyone held hands and sang grace before lunch.  It had been cloudy since early morning and it seemed right that it should rain - a significant cleansing.  Our first steps towards moving away from old mindsets towards embracing the vision of hearts in communion and spirits in unity now began.  Sr Janet Wang had reminded everyone in her opening address that we are to share a common vision that is "focused on providing a new model of quality education based on the formation of the heart."

The journey will not be plain sailing as so many unique and talented individuals seek to unite and to give their best.  Yet, Sr Janet had reiterated, we can either choose to see the task as burdensome or as a noble mission.  Are we just pushing boulders up the hill or do we see the cathedral we are building?  And if we build on love, we will not tire for St Magdalene of Canossa has said, "Those who love are never tired since love knows no burden."  Awesome words indeed.
