Our Annual General Assembly was held on Sunday, October 20, 2002. It opened with an inspiring para-liturgy. The National Coordinator welcomed, and then thanked the members for making the effort to attend the AGM. The highlight of the AGM was the election of a new National Coordinating Team. The new office bearers were as follows:
Brenda Teong who had attended a 5-day retreat in the Philippines, shared on the "5 Charismatic Moments of St Magdalene". She shared how the life of St Magdalene had inspired here and how she could apply our Foundress' insights in her daily life. Sr Jane Wang was also present at the AGM. In her address, Sr Janet talked about unrest in many parts of the world and that this had invoked a sense of fear and insecurity in people. What is important about our role is that we need to proclaim the good news of forgiveness. In addition, we need to include in our daily life, a prayer for peace, thoughts about peace and actions to promote peace. Our Canossian response is to live with a missionary spirit and tell the story of God's great love. The Canossian Sisters follow the Foundress' advice and walk with the times and have responded to the needs of the people. This could be seen in their involvement in education, faith formation, care of the elderly and sick etc. We transform the 3Cs into "Creative Charity of Christ Crucified". ~ Brenda Teong |
