NEWS UPDATE
  • Sr. Veronica Sng and Sr. Elizabeth Sim returned from Myanmar on 5 June after being in Taunggyi to accompany the nine aspirants in their formation. Four aspirants have gone for their village experience, one has left for Yangon to do a Nurse Aid Training Course while the other four are in the aspirants' house to continue with their study of English. Sr. Clara Tan will be going to Taunggyi in July to accompany the girls in their growth.
  • Sr. Louisa Lim returned to Singapore on 12 June after completing her M.A. studies in Hong Kong.
  • Sr. Clara Tan and Sr. Jane Chong will be coming back on 20 June from China where they gave religious formation to some Sisters there, including a group preparing for their Final Vows.
  • Sr. Josephine Ng will be arriving in Singapore from Hong Kong on 21 June for her family visit and to take up a training course for teaching English at the British Council.
  • Sr. Elizabeth Tham will be coming back to Singapore on 28 June on the same flight as Sr. Angela and Sr. Jacqueline. She will be attached to St. Magdalene's community during the initial period of her re-entry to the Province of Singapore after her five years of service at SEICA in Rome as international Co-ordinator for Education. 
  • Roslin Z, returned on 11 June to continue with her Novitiate formation, after her community experience in Malacca. 

  • Philomena Peter instead has asked for a one year leave from the Novitiate to have some experience of working among the poor and to further discern her vocation. She left the Novitiate at the end of May.

Jessica Yeoh and Diana Yew completed their three months "Come and See" experience with St. Magadalene's community towards the end of May. Both of them are very grateful for the experience, which has helped them to grow. We wish them God's blessings as they continue in their search for God's will for them in life.
Transfer
Sr. Virginia Crimella will be transferred from St. Anthony's Community to Canossa Convent Community with the beginning of the new term on 24 June. Sr. Virginia has been a member of SAC community for many years and is much loved by the teachers and children of St. Anthony's Canossian Schools. She will be dearly missed especially by the little ones as she normally walks around the playground during recess time. We hope that she will continue to be a loving and inspiring presence also to the children of Canossa Convent Primary School.
Travel
  • Sr. Maria Riva will be going with her cousin to the Canossian Convent in La Plata, Argentina, from 15 June to 1 July, to visit her elder sister Ester who has been a missionary there for many years and is unable to go back to Italy because her sickness does not permit her to travel. After that she will go to CAMIC Rome to take part in the Missionary Formation Course and the Retreat.
 
  • Sr. Cecily Pavri will be going for an Overseas Training Programme organized by the Ministry of Education for Principals of schools. She will be away in Lugano, Switzerland from 13 to 24 July.
Workshops & Retreat
Fr. Michael McGuire was here from the Philippines to conduct two workshops and a weekend retreat:

15-17 June: Achieving Adulthood as a Christian in Today's World (for about 70 Sisters & laity from Singapore & Malaysia).

18-21 June: Frustration and Aggression (for about 40 Sisters from Singapore & Malaysia)

22-23 June: Retreat for Lay Canossians

Our Heartfelt Condolences to the families of:
  • Fr. Emile Fernandez, the brother of our late Sr. Helen Fernandez, passed away in Makota Hospital in Malacca on 20 May. May his soul rest in peace. 

 

  • Mrs Rosa Ang, the mother of Cynthia Ang, our Lay Canossian, died peacefully on 15 June.
