| Staff Retreat Vocation is "where your deep gladness meets the world's deep need." It was a time of reflection, of soul searching and a vocational calling for all the participating staff of the Canossian School for the Hearing Impaired. On 18th March this year, at Le Meridien Changi, Ms Selvathi and Sr Angela Ng facilitated the Staff Retreat with the theme " Are You Listening to Your Life?". The Retreat started off with icebreaker games that helped to create a stronger bond among the staff of the various departments and especially among the new and old staff. The staff participated and cooperated actively in the games. Many fruitful moments were spent on the call of a vocation during the Retreat. There were reflections, sharing sessions and game activities were each on learnt of their individual callings in life. A particularly impressive saying was from P.J. Palmer who said "vocation is not a goal to be achieved but a gift to be received ~ the treasures of true self". The staff was also invited to share their individual experiences, which had shaped their lives. While some felt that this too personal to be shared in a big group, there were those who spontaneously shared their life experiences. On the whole the Retreat was an enlightening, life-giving experience particularly for the new staff. We all benefited from the time spent in quiet personal reflection and facilitated a growing awareness on education as a vocation. By: Ms Caroline Xavier [CSHI] |
