Scripture Rocks!!!

"What do you mean there is no Job?" I have lived with him for so many years; cried with him, grumbled with him, sighed with him. He was such a comfort to have around, and now you tell me he isn't 'real'. By then I wasn't totally shocked anymore; I was beginning to wisen up to this old book - the Bible. History, poetry, tradition or parable?

Scripture has sprung to new heights for this motley crew from across the island. From Yishun to Bukit Batok to Teban Garden to Braddell - we faithfully make our way to the east on Wednesday mornings to our 'Bible class'. Every other one of us had either been invited or had contemplated joining the Bible Study Fellowship ("BSF") offered by our Christian brothers and sisters. Most started off as strangers; our common desire - to 'study' the Scripture. So began our journey with the Little Rock Scripture Study.

The well structured and informative taped lessons were easy to listen to and follow; homework was manageable and the discussion and sharing sessions each week were enlightening, powerful and challenging. Within weeks, there emerged a community of believers bound together by The Word. Over the table of The Word, we share our joys, fears and tears and exclaim at the 'loss' of Job, and Jonah and Adam and Eve!! Over the table of home-baked bread, tau suan and katong laksa, we slurp and burp, happy to call each other friend.

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of Your Word, for the gift of friendship, for the gift of food, and for the gift of Sr Christine Santhou - she is a good habit to have.
Don't ask me to spew bible verses to you; I can only say
