Diocese of Nashville Catholic Committee on Scouting - Mission

Mission

· To ensure that units under Catholic sponsorship participate in the programs and activities, which support the spiritual growth -- religious, vocational, and educational -- of the membership.

· To reach out to scouts and leaders under non-Catholic sponsorship so they can participate in the programs and activities which support the spiritual growth -- religious, vocational, and educational -- of the membership.

· To ensure that Catholic scouts and leaders receives guidance, motivation, and direction to achieve our goals and objectives.

· To promote the growth of and support and strengthen scouting under Catholic sponsorship.

Our Goals and Objectives for 2008...

· Develop and implement a program that will increase scout awareness and involvement in Catholic scouting activities and award programs.

· Put on a Day Retreat for younger scouts (11 or younger)

· To increase the number of Cub Scout Packs, BSA Troops, BSA Crews, GSUSA Troops by 1, 1, 1 and 1 respectively.

· To increase the number of units represented on our Diocesan Committee by 3 and the number of unit that earned their Pope Paul VI Unit award by 2.

· To develop a database and process for maintaining Parish, Scout Leaders, Counselors, Trainers and Committee members contact information. Develop and implement a program to educate leaders about the Catholic award programs.
