GoalOne goal of the Catholic Committee on Scouting is always to help our youth to grow in their Catholic faith. The goals of The Trail of Churches are many. As the boys and girls complete the requirements, they will learn about the history of Catholicism in Middle Tennessee, as well as some of the history of the Diocese of Nashville. They will learn about their local parish, as well as a neighboring parish. |
Do you like scavenger hunts? If so, you will like this.Requirements:To earn the commemorative patch, the boys and girls will have to visit seven (6) parishes within the Diocese of Nashville and answer some questions that are specific to each parish. Some of the questions relate to the architecture and can be answered by walking around the church. Other questions may require you to enter the church. If the church is locked, then answer what you can. You may want to contact the parish to see when the church is open. Look for plaques or engraving in the cement or on the physical structure of the building. While visiting these parishes there are questions about each parish that you need to try to answered. These questions can be answered by looking around or in the church. The questions are appropriate for all ages, some answers will be easier to find than others. If you cannot find an answer, then skip that question and go to the next. The purpose is to learn what you can from each church. Do your best. Program CompletionOnce completed send the application and $5.00 for each patch to the Catholic Committee on Scouting Trail of Churches ApplicationPlease complete the application and mail it along with the application fee to ... Catholic Committee on Scouting Presentation of the AwardThis patch will be mailed directly to the person that completed the program (or the person who ordered the patch). We encourage each unit to plan a formal presentation for their scout(s) in your Troop, Pack or at a Mass in your local Parish. |
