Dear Visitor,

May I warmly welcome you to my website. It is a simple website offered in the hope that it might nourish the spiritual and religious life of anyone who cares to visit it. The website opens with some words of Scripture (such as, say, "Dominus Jesus Christus" meaning "Jesus Christ is Lord", from the Latin Vulgate.)

I am a priest of the diocese of Parramatta, (Sydney) Australia. I was born and raised in Sydney and was ordained in June of 1971. I am the eldest of seven children, and my mother still lives in Lane Cove (Sydney) where we grew up. All my priestly life I have engaged in parish work, having served in various parishes in Sydney and elsewhere, including four and a half years of missionary work in South America. I have studied in various universities and institutes, with my degrees being in philosophy, theology, religious education and the humanities. My Ph.D. was on Cardinal Newman's notion of the conscience.  Most people in the parish address me as "Father Ted" - no relation to the Irish television character.

You will notice that there are seven links on the home page (apart from this link). To begin with, I offer some Thoughts for Today as well as an archive of Previous Daily Thoughts going back over the past few years. These are the first two links on the Home Page. The Thought for Today link consists of a video of my own reflections on the Gospel of the day (including the written text below it), a brief life of the saint of the day, a spiritual reflection from one of  St Josemaria Escriva's works, and a paragraph from Pope Benedict's second Encyclical, Spe Salvi (which I serialize). I also include a link to the Scripture readings of the day and the Pope's intention for the month.

In the third link of the Home Page I offer a range of my personal reflections on various aspects of The Christian Life. These topics have no direct relation to the Church's Liturgical Year, but have been chosen and developed by me in view of their importance to the spiritual life of the Christian. Then in a fourth link on the Home Page I offer a range of links and material on The Pope and the Church in general. I offer two further links on Christian Sources and another on Matters of Interest. Finally I also have a fifth link with News items - generally about the Pope.

                                         My warmest regards.
                                                                           Father Ted.
