Communication with Visitors

Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us!

August 1, 1999 (Aug. 15, 18)

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

Thank you for your patience! It is really nice to be communicating with you again! Alleluia! But we must admit that it is at times, like many important things in life, a cross to do so. Indeed, the editor had to complete a difficult paper for the coming energy symposium (called The Ultimate Nature of Energy as an Emerging and Unifying Paradigm in the Next Millenium) by the end of July for the proofreaders such that there was little alternative but to take the summer break. Unspeakable gratitude and indisputable credit must be acknowledged here for the Almighty God's intervention and the intercession of Our Heavenly Mother and the whole Family of Holy Angels and Saints, as well as the prayers of many kind sisters and brothers in Christ. The paper entitled An Emerging Metaphysical Macroparadigm Shift from Being to Energy-Being and Its Ultimate Reality and Meaning in Christian Eschatology is basically completed and the first proofreader seems delighted and excited. Earlier we thought that the paper could only be finished by the end of August. It may be a short paper of 20 single-space pages, but it involves over 100 reference articles and books. Further, it is facing an army of scrutinizing scholars and scientists from around the world in the current largely anti-metaphysical [or anti-classical-metaphysical] age. As we know, defined as "the study of being, its principles and causes" (Encyclopedic Dictionary of Religion, 1979, p. 2352), classical metaphysics has virtually disappeared from universities, colleges and seminaries for quite a few years. For further information of the coming URAM Conference, click here. We are also indescribably grateful to those in charge of URAM for giving us a chance to develop and forward Theology of Energy. If everything is dynamically and concretely energy or energy-being, then we may have to address everything including our worldview in energy terms, just as we have been addressing our worldview rather statically and abstractly in being terms (e.g., divine being, human being, physical being, angelic being, diabolic being, saintly being, etc.).

For the last two weeks or so, a lot of people have been mourning over the sudden, premature death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Jr. (1960-1999). As we are all sinners, let us pray, do penance and gain indulgence for him, the Kennedy family and ourselves, especially that the so-called "Kennedy curse" (Time, Canadian edition, July 26, 1999, p.38) apparently caused by the not so wholesome past (cf. ibid.) would be terminated once for all. Exodus 1:5-6 clearly reads: "For I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me, but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments." If God has spoken, how could we not take God's Word seriously?

According to the definition of Catechism of the Catholic Church (no. 1471): "An indulgence is a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, which the faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains under certain prescribed conditions through the action of the Church which, as the minister of redemption, dispenses and applies with authority the treasury of the satisfactions of Christ and the saints. An indulgence is partial or plenary according as it removes either part or all of the temporal punishment due to sin. Indulgences may be applied to the living or the dead." Let us be wise and loving, and take this doctrine of the Church seriously.

A few days ago, the Pope affirmed the everlasting existence of demons and Hell, saying, "More than a place, Hell is the state of the one who freely and finally removes himself from God, the source of life and joy." This statement plus others have been interpreted that Hell and Heaven are not physical places. But this is our understanding that if the resurrection of Christ was physical, irreversibly so, should the place (i.e., Heaven) where He ascended not to be physical too? As much as we are honoured in Heaven, body and soul, so are we condemned by our own sins to Hell, body and soul. As such, the Pope did not say that Hell is not a physical place. He said simply that it is "more than a place." It is true that we cannot figure Hell out by and large in our modern cosmology; that is precisely why we need Divine Revelation and the Magisterium which are complementary or supplementary to the limits of pure human knowledge. Indeed, if our resurrection (whether we are good or evil) is truly physical as much as spiritual as our Creed says, it is then God's problem, not ours, to provide us with a physical-spiritual place (whether it is good or evil) to stay for all eternity!

As we are going to celebrate the Assumption of Our Blessed Mother, body and soul, into Heaven on August 15, the Church seems to be inviting everyone of us to enjoy the immense consolation and confidence found in Our Heavenly Mother who is the living sign of true hope and comfort for the pilgrim people of God. Vatican II solemnly teaches: "In the meantime the Mother of Jesus in the glory which she possesses in body and soul in heaven is the image and beginning of the Church as it is to be perfected in the world to come. Likewise she shines forth on earth, until the day of the Lord shall come (cf. 2Pet 3:10), a sign of certain hope and comfort to the Pilgrim People of God." (Lumen gentium, 68)

Even if a mother could forget her child, the Mother of all mothers --- whose Immaculate Heart has been united with Jesus' Sacred Heart in her womb ever since two millenniums ago --- cannot forget each one of us! Are we not truly blessed to have a Mother like her in Heaven? Certainly the evil spirits, as the sole enemies of Our Heavenly Mother and of all humanity, do not like it and want us to forget her. Yet even when we try to forget her and play down her role in salvation as reaffirmed by the Church, she cannot and will not forget us! How can she? It is absolutely impossible! It is entirely against her motherly nature to do so. Let us then continue to honour, love and console Our Heavenly Mother, more and more! As so many of us are offending God, is she not also our sorrowful Mother too? Mother Teresa was once asked: "How much should we love Mary?" Her well-known answer was: "As much Jesus loves Mary!" "How much should we love Jesus?" "As much as Mary loves Jesus!"

Yours very sincerely in Christ and Our Heavenly Mother,

The editor

P.S. (Aug. 15) Today the whole Church - both in Heaven and on earth - is celebrating the Feast of the Assumption of Our Heaven Mother, with unspeakable joy!

A pure gift is a pure gift is a pure gift! It is something which we do not deserve. There are indeed a few perfect (humanly speaking) sons and better-halves in some cultures and families today who are more than eager and proud to entrust all they have -- in part or whole -- to the wisest, most beloved, and trustworthy woman of the family. It appears that the Three Divine Persons are doing just that to Our Heavenly Mother in the Divine Heavenly Family.

The Most Holy Trinity seems more than eager and proud to entrust all that It possesses -- in part or whole -- to Our Heavenly Mother, the perfect, wisest, most beloved, gifted, humble, and trustworthy Woman of the whole Divine Heavenly Family. She is at the same time the perfect Daughter of God the Father (some Eastern Orthodox theologians even give her the title the Queen and Spouse of God the Father), the perfect Mother of God the Son, and the perfect Spouse of God the Holy Spirit.

That might help explain the awesome role of Our Heavenly Mother who is chosen and used by the Most Holy Trinity as the Mediatrix of all graces. Wow! Shall we not approach Our Heavenly Mother with great confidence and expectations? Praise be to God! She has been greeted consistently for the last two millenniums and for all eternity by the whole Divine Heavenly Family: "Hail, O favoured one, the Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!" (Lk 1: 28, 42) And Our Heavenly Mother simply responds without ceasing: "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for He has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; for He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name." (Lk 1:46-48) For further information on the subject (from the 33 Days of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary), click here.

P.S. (Aug. 18) A pure gift is a pure gift is a pure gift! It is something which we do not deserve. Insofar as the energy symposium in the URAM Conference is concerned, we would like to thank God whole-heartedly for every pure gift.

For examples, we really like to thank the whole Divine Heavenly Family for using us to do Theology of Energy for them, however imperfect and unworthy we always are.

Besides, we like to thank those in charge of the URAM Conference -- in particular Rev. Prof. John Perry, S.J. -- for giving us a chance to promote Theology of Energy for the Divine Heavenly Family, and to refer us to prominent speakers on physical and human energies.

We also like to thank Rev. Prof. Michael Lapierre, S.J., for giving us sound advice and helping us with metaphysics.

Further, we like to thank all the great speakers, especially Rev. Prof. Kevin Sharpe from University of Oxford, England, and College of Graduate Studies, Cincinnati. He is really sharp in the paper he is to deliver. Listed internationally in the Who's Who in Theology and Science (1992), he has a Ph.D. in mathematics and another which concerns science, philosophy and theology. Included is also Dr. Stephen Modell who deals with medicine and gene at the University of Michigan. In his energy-based model of URAM, he will offer some cutting edge discoveries on DNA. Prof. Alexander Berezin, a professional physicist and prolific writer in solid state physics from McMaster University, is updating us on the latest development on energy and information. Prof. Louise Sundararajan from New York State University, who cannot come to this confernece, is contributing a timely paper entitled Shifting Paradigms in the Energy Theory of Emotions: Toward a Syntheis. Praise God!

Moreover, we like to thank Rev. Fr. Robert Foliot, S.J., for allowing us to share Theology of Energy at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish for the last few years, without which no sufficient feedback and confidence would have been possible. As he is heading for his new assignment in September, may the whole Divine Heavenly Family be with him without end!

Last*, but not the least, we would like to thank every kind sister and brother who has been praying for this energy symposium, i.e., for the fulfillment of God's intention accordingly. We are especially grateful to Our Heavenly Mother and all the Holy Angels and Saints for their intercession! As always, this work that we are doing -- imperfect as it is -- is completely dedicated and consecrated to the whole Divine Heavenly Family. Glory be forever and ever to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit --- the Most Holy Trinity. Amen.

Our next communication would appear some time in early September due to the URAM Conference (which begins this evening) and the rest afterwards. Thank you.

*There are other unsung heroes who want to remain anonymous. We will let God bless them accordingly.
