Women’s and Men’s Retreats

"Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon your shoulders and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. Your souls will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden light." (Matthew 11:28–29)

Each year, members of the Guardian Angeles faith community are invited to withdraw to the Notre Dame Retreat House in Canandaigua, New York for a retreat weekend of prayer and discernment.

The Gentlemen of 2007.

The Gentlemen of 2008.

This year (2008), the theme is Understanding St. Paul, A Realistic Guide for Today's Catholic's. Pope Benedict XVI has dedicated this year to St. Paul, marking the 2,000th anniversary of Paul's birth. Pope Benedict has stated that "the church is by its nature a missionary; its primary task is evangelization. At the beginning of the third millennium, the church feels a renewed sense that Christ's missionary mandate is more pressing than ever."

With fewer priests, with parishes and churches closing, with many Catholics feeling bewildered by conflicting ideas and scandals, St. Paul can inspire us to stand firm and trust in the power of Jesus.
