ABOUT OUR PASTOR. . . .
It was August 17, 2012, when
Bishop Liam Cary of the Diocese of Baker
Know your Pastor
“Knowing is essential to love”
I come from a family of eight and am the third child of Mr. and Mrs. A.C Nnabugo of Imo State in Nigeria, and my parents are still alive.
I had my primary education between 1977-1983. I was admitted into Bonus Pastor Minor Seminary 1983-85, and St Mary's Umuowa during the years 1985-1988, where I received my first West African Examination Certificate. I was sent on one year apostolic work to St. Patrick's parish Amucha and St. Gregory's parish Amaigbo in 1989 and 1990 respectively, and all is in the Diocese of Orlu in Nigeria. In October 1990, I was admitted into the Assumpta Maria Spiritual Year Owerri in Imo state Nigeria for spiritual formation. Between 1991 and 1995 I studied Philosophy at Seat of Wisdom major Seminary Owerri in Nigeria, a course which earned me a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy. Then I was again sent on one year of apostolic work at C.K.C. Abba.
In 1996 I stepped into a four year Theological program a course which I completed in June 2000, at Seat of Wisdom Seminary. I sat for a Bachelors Degree in Theology and Religious Studies [Imo State University] as a senior seminarian. As a seminarian I did my apostolic work in nine parishes in my diocese and also at Holy Trinity Onitsha [an inter-Diocese assignment]. I was installed a lector and Acolyte in 1997 and 1998, was ordained a deacon on December 18, 1999, and became a priest of God August 19, 2000. I was made a parochial Vicar in St. Theresa's parish in my Diocese for one year and later I was sent on two years of missionary work outside my Diocese. When I came back I was made a Pastor of St. Jude's parish Uli, a parish of eight out stations with two parochial Vicars to help me [2003-2006].
Then on November 1, 2006, I left Nigeria for the Diocese of Baker in Oregon. I worked as a parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Parish in Klamath Falls for five years and on December 3, 2011, I was sent to help out at Our Lady of Angels Parish in Hermiston. On August 17, 2012, I became the Pastor of Holy Redeemer Church in La Pine and its three Missions respectively.
So, my dear friends welcome to the website of Holy Redeemer Parish, La Pine, Oregon. We are a family-like community with a rich diversity in culture, but one in the faith, liturgy, and social activities. We seek to be more vibrant and effective in proclaiming the word of God. We joyfully celebrate communal prayers and worship, especially the Holy Eucharist which is the center of our faith with utmost reverence and devotion. We share in the maintenance of the parish by members participating in stewardship and pastoral ministries as well as ministering to the social life of the parish. There are many ways for members to become active in parish ministries to help proclaim the Gospel of Christ.
May God bless us as we continue to work as one family to be the Light of Christ in the world.
Sincerely in Christ,
