GROUPS AND MINISTRIES
We are happy that you have come to our
parish. The following is information about our parish life and its groups. We invite
you to contact us with any questions, concerns or involvement you may feel
attracted to.
Alpha Program: a one semester program designed to help people
discover together in an enthusiastic way the basics of Christianity. Ann

Altar Servers: Boys or girls 9 years old and older trained to serve the priest at Mass
and other liturgical celebrations. The children learn the holiness of the Mass
and the sacredness of the Word of God.
Altar Society: This group provides decorations and flower arrangements that add to the
sacred atmosphere of the Holy Mass.

Bazaar Committee: A committee works year round to prepare for our parish bazaar. It has the value of building community
and raising funds for the parish.

Bereavement Support Group: A group program is offered twice a year, to help our bereaved
parishioners through their grieving.
The program is based on the graces available through our Catholic Faith.
Home visits to our bereaved are available on an ongoing basis. Contact Ann Kennaley 868-1009.
Canadian Food for Children: This
group meets to collect and send good used clothing to needy families in third
world countries. Contact Rosemary

Children’s Liturgy: During Sunday morning Masses for children 3-8yrs. The program is based
on the gospel to help our children discover the beauty of loving God. Contact Ann Matthews 763-7126
Christian Initiation of Children: This course is for children (8-16) who have not had
religious education. It helps to prepare for the reception of the sacraments.
(Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation) Ann Matthews 763-7126
Clubhouse Daycare Center: Parish daycare for child minding, preschool, daycare and after school

Cursillo: A residential 3 day short course (retreat) on Christianity with follow
up meetings (Ultreyas). Call Tom or Mary-Ann Smithwick. 764-4871
CWL: Catholic Women’s League is an organization of Catholic Women
within our parish who work for the good of the church and country. Ann Pilon 762-8210
Development and Peace: This is a group that links our parish with the
needs of poorer countries and social groups. Contact: Ann Matthews 763-7126
Finance Committee: This
group helps us deal respectfully with the people’s offerings to the
financial support of the parish.
Growing Families: A
gathering of parents with young children wishing to nurture their catholic
family living. Meets twice a
month. Daycare provided. Contact Paul Ziebart 762-7855.
Hospital Visitation: Various
groups participate in this ministry.
An attempt is made to visit weekly all our parishioners while in

Kelowna Catholic Schools: For
children kindergarten to grade 12.

Knights of Columbus: This is
a Catholic organization of men who assist the parish and the community. A strong fraternity develops among the
members to their spiritual advantage.

Legion of Mary: A group of parishioners who
visit the sick, elderly and dying in the long term care facilities of our
parish. This is a marvelous work,
keeping these people close to God. Roberta

Liturgical Ministries: These groups include ushers, readers, commentators, extra-ordinary
ministers of the Eucharistic, musicians and altar servers. Each group contributes to the holiness

Live-In: This is
a retreat weekend for all. It
offers a special welcome for those seeking to know Jesus in a deeper and

Marriage Preparation: Engaged
Encounter Weekends are offered at Seton House of Prayer for couples entering
into the Sacrament of Marriage.

Natural Family Planning: This
service is available to assist couples in living the Church’s, teaching
in Natural Family Planning. Contact

Parish Pastoral Council: This parish
organization assists the pastor in meeting the spiritual needs of the
parish. It also helps the
organizations of the parish.

People of Faith Prayer Group: This is a Charismatic prayer group.
It draws people into a communal prayer experience with many advantages
to union with Christ. Contact

Perpetual Adoration: Many people in our parish unite together in providing a continual prayer
before Jesus in the Eucharist. Each
adorer fulfills a period of one hour.

Pilgrimage of Faith: This is the title for our annual fund raising appeal to help new and
continuing diocesan and parish projects.

Project Rachel: This
group assists people dealing with past abortion grief. Contact 762-2273 for confidential
assistance.
Religious Education and Sacramental
Preparation: Weekly program to teach
our Catholic faith to youth grades 1 through 7 who are attending public

Retrouvaille: This is a retreat experience for struggling couples who are seeking help
to renew their unity. Contact Stan

Right to Life: Our
parish is committed to the protection of the unborn. This group is committed to leading the
parish in this ministry. Volunteers
may work in the thrift shop or help with communicating a Pro-Life message.

Rite of Christian Initiation for
Adults: for adults who are exploring
membership into the Catholic Church or deepening or renewing their membership
in the church. It leads to a

Rosary Group: This
group says the rosary each Monday at noon for the good of the parish and for
various needs in the world. Contact

Secular Franciscan Order: This group meets for prayer and study using the

Serra Club: This
group meets to pray for vocation to the priesthood and religious life. Contact Leo Ilomin 979-7406.
Seton House of Prayer: This is a retreat facility where people may stay overnight. Counseling
and spiritual direction are available.

Spirit of Hope Ministry: Members
of this ministry meet with people seeking healing (emotional or physical)

St. Vincent de Paul: This is the face of Christ in our parish for poor
people – a wonderful work is provided assisting those in need.
Welcoming Committee: This ministry provides a word of welcome to all who gather for
mass. It is especially significant
for our visitors and new parishioners.

Word of Life: This is a group that gathers to reflect together on
the monthly Word of Life (taken from scripture). The group shares experiences on how they
