10 OCT 2008: FEAST OF ST. DANIEL COMBONI / RELEASE OF P. LETTER Post Unity Congress: Pastoral Letter of His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ
The purpose of H.L. Bishop Camillo's Pastoral Letter is "to highlight the main points which drew attention during the Unity Congress (4-6 Sept 2008) and to give them the necessary follow-up." The letter comes to us on the feast of St. Daniel Comboni (Bishop and Founder of the Congregation of the Comboni Missionaries). Incidentally, the new mission field in Abbasiya has been entrusted to the protection and intercession of this great Saint .... "Saint Daniel Comboni, pray for us!"
2 SEPT 2008 : RELEASE OF BISHOP CAMILLO'S PASTORAL LETTER One Body in Christ: 2nd Pastoral Letter of His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ
H.L. Bishop Camillo's Second Pastoral Letter which was released on the third anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination is based on the Parts of the Holy Mass with a more detailed explanation of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. The title of the Letter has been taken from 1 Cor 10:17. St. Paul says: "And as there is one loaf, so we, although there are many of us, are one single body, for we all share in the one loaf."
In the introduction, reference to the Passover is used to illumine the meaning of Christ’s redeeming sacrifice. Jesus, an observant Jew, died at Passover. His Last Supper — where he gave us the Eucharist as a way to remember and receive him — was a Passover meal (Luke 22:7-38). A Christian Passover highlights the fact that Jesus’ death and resurrection is a new exodus. What does that mean for us? How can we live out this reality more fully? ...
The Letter concludes with notes and indications on how to use the letter.

9 SEPT 2008 : TRANSCRIPT OF INTERVIEW RELEASED A Pilgrim's Journey: An Interview with Dr. Andrea L. Pinto: WYD Kuwait Pilgrim
The Vicariate web team contacted Dr. Andrea Pinto, a WYD pilgrim from Kuwait, for her perspective and comments on WYD 2008. Her article "Discovery of Love - A Pilgrim's Diary" which was published on August 20, 2008, has been making waves locally and internationally.
For Andrea, WYD 2008 was a spiritual experience she earnestly looked forward to, and not just for the social and travel opportunities the occasion presented. "Young people," she revealed, "want a closer relationship with God, they are seekers of the truth, they want to practise what they believe and to have a stronger sense of what it means to be Catholic."
..... In "A Pilgrim's Journey", Andrea reflects on her experiences before, during and after World Youth Day 2008. What she has to say takes us by storm...
Dear Rev. Fathers, Rev. Sisters and my dear People,
As the Vicar Apostolic of Kuwait and as your Bishop, it is my duty and privilege to welcome you all to this august assembly for the Unity Congress which we begin today. You represent a pluralistic and migrant community and have come over here with much sacrifices. I appreciate your positive response to my invitation for the Congress. It shows your openness to the Holy Spirit and your readiness to listen to each other in communion with your Bishop. You have spared much of your precious time for being present at this fellowship.
--- Prayer for Unity ---
Eternal Father, we praise You for sending Your Son
to be one of us and to save us.
Look upon Your people with mercy,
for we are divided in so many ways,
and give us the Spirit of Jesus to make us one in love.
We ask this gift, loving Father,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Our Lady of Arabia, Pray for us.
A real unity and sense of community among the believers in the Church is possible only when there is real communion and communication. Hence, a fruitful dialogue and interaction are necessary for the success of this Congress. Moreover, this is an assembly of believers united in prayer. Therefore a lot of blessing will be showered from above and thus it becomes another experience of the Pentecost. My beloved Clergy, Religious and my dear People, on behalf of the Vicariate may I extend a hearty welcome to all of you. I thank God who have called you to attend this three day session of the Congress .... [full message]
8th August 2008 Pastoral Message to the Members of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Kuwait
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This is the first time that I am addressing you personally and I thank God for this opportunity to write to you.
As you are preparing for the First Gulf Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services Leaders’ Conference, I would like to take advantage of this occasion to express my wishes for so important a movement.
I whole-heartedly appreciate the prayer meetings that you conduct. Prayer is an essential part of our Christian life. Jesus Himself said that without Him we can do nothing: “Cut off from me you can do nothing” (Jn 15,5).
Nevertheless, Jesus also said: “It is not anyone who says to me: Lord, Lord, who will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven” (Mt.7:21). My wish, therefore, is that besides your prayer there also be a concrete revision of your life. We should often ask ourselves: “Where am I? How is my Christian life? How is my relationship with my husband/wife, children, neighbors, collaborators, enemies, persons in charge? Since I entered the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, did my life change, at least sometime? Do I see the resurrection of Jesus Christ in my life, i.e. did I leave behind the sins that I used to commit before joining the CCR?
We know that we are always ready to justify ourselves and have a partial judgment of our behavior. So, my wish is also that the CCR be able to provide persons who may verify if the life of the members of CCR is changing or not, if their presence in the CCR is useful or if it is something routine with no practical influence.
I wish that more catechetical formation be given to the members of CCR. Prayer is important, even necessary, but we have to also transform our mentality, our way of thinking and judging, so that we can grow up and have the same mentality and the same Spirit of Jesus Christ. Besides prayer meetings, other meetings for formation should be conducted and suitable resources persons should be provided.
I also wish that the so called “training” not only have a technical aspect, like “We train people and they train others”. We should not only train people, in the technical sense, but we should especially communicate to them our personal experience of Jesus Christ in our life, so that their lives be always nearer to Him. This requires that the persons in charge of training have a mature experience of Christian life in the CCR.
I also wish that the terminology “Healing Prayer Service” be understood in the right way, or it should be simply omitted. When people hear about “Healing Prayer Service”, they come very willingly to it because they want to be healed from an infirmity they have. However, the main purpose of our prayer is not the physical healing as such, but to obtain from God the grace of doing His will in our life. Sometimes people are misled by the “Healing Prayer” because when they see that they are not healed, they leave the meetings, the prayer and the Church, as well. I wish that the term “Healing Prayer Service” be replaced by “Intercessory Prayer”. We intercede so that we are ready to do the will of God.
I also wish that some expressions be avoided. Exempli Gratia: “God told me, God revealed to me, God spoke to me”, etc. Of course God can speak personally to anybody, but we have to verify, through the Church, if what seems to be a message of God for an individual personally is what it truly is, a message. If we stress very much on personal inspirations from the Holy Spirit, there is a danger that we could abandon the Church, as we may feel that we don’t need the Church any more, we now have our personal relationship with the Holy Spirit and this is more than enough.
Finally, I wish that a plan of formation of the members of CCR be common in the entire Gulf, so that we all walk together, we form an enlarged family inside the Church so that anybody who emigrates to another Gulf country, might continue his formation without interruption or surprises.
God, send us Your Holy Spirit and the face of the earth will be renewed!
Bishop Camillo Ballin, mccj Vicar Apostolic of Kuwait

H.L. Bishop Camillo's Pastoral Letter of this year is on the Eucharist. The title of the Letter has been taken from the Papal Encyclical Ecclesia de Eucharistia, in which thrice Pope John Paul II described the Eucharist as "amazement".
The First Part of the Pastoral Letter explains in as simple terms as possible: the Biblical Roots of the Eucharistic Celebration, The Eucharist as a Sacrament of Unity, The Altar as Symbol of Christ and Music in the Liturgy. The Second Part of the Pastoral Letter closely examines the Liturgy of the Word. Each section of the Letter concludes with thought-provoking questions for a deeper understanding. B E A T I F I C A T I O N & C A N O N I S A T I O N C A U S E :
LET US PRAY: O Blessed Trinity, we thank You for having gifted the Church with Pope John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of Your Fatherly care, the glory of the Cross of Christ, and the splendour of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him. Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with You. Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your Will, the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon be numbered among Your saints. Amen.
The Holy Angels - If we only under- stood their dignity, their perfection and closeness to God, we would be drawn to venerate and love them for their excellence and power, remembering, besides, how much they love us and with what care they guard our beings. In times of temptation, they can give us both light and strength. They never stop praying for us, and they present our prayers before God. Therefore, it makes good sense to venerate the angels, especially our guardian angel; to cultivate their friendship, to thank them, to ask their help on every occasion ...
2. The Holy Rosary.
"My impression is that the Rosary is of the greatest value, not only according to the words of Our Lady at Fátima, but according to the effects of the Rosary one sees throughout history. My impression is that Our Lady wanted to give ordinary people, who might not know how to pray, this simple method of getting closer to God." (Sister Lucia, one of the seers of Fátima).
