29th JANUARY 2010 : DEDICATION & ESTABLISHMENT OF OUR NEW PARISH A Milestone in the Timeline of our Vicariate Canonical Erection of St. Daniel Comboni Parish in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Kuwait
Today, 29th January, our fourth and newest parish was blessed and canonically erected by His Lordship Camillo Ballin, MCCJ, during the concelebrated Mass in the parish church at Jleeb Al-Shuyouk, Kuwait. The parish has been dedicated to Saint Daniel Comboni, Bishop and Founder of the Congregation of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus.
As part of the event, Rev. Fr. Albert Saveriraj, OCD, was installed as the (first) Parish Priest. Rev. Fr. George Chacko and Rev. Fr. Joseph, OCD, are part of the parish team.
This is the occasion the Catholics of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and the surrounding areas have been fervently praying for: as one of the faithful joyfully expressed, "Praise and thanks to Almighty God! Great and marvellous are His deeds! It is a great spiritual consolation for us to have a house of prayer and three religious in our midst. We convey our deep gratitude to Bishop Camillo for his vision and thoughtfulness in granting our greatest wish. We implore the great missionary Saint Daniel Comboni to bless and protect our parish and community. As we grow in holiness, may we also grow in unity, day by day."
According to the episcopal decree, areas included in the new Parish are: Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Dhaieel, Airport, Wista, Subhan and Qurain 1, 2, 3 & 4.
The Comboni parish began as a humble mission centre in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh (Abbassiya) on 24th September 2008 and on that day St. Daniel Comboni was proclaimed its patron. His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ, Vicar Apostolic of Kuwait, says, "I chose St. Daniel Comboni as patron because we want this Saint to intercede on our behalf for a church in Abbassiya." A special Novena to Saint Daniel Comboni is currently being recited in all our parish churches on Thursdays for this particular intercession. Saint Daniel Comboni, Pray for us!
Through the intercession of Our Lady of Arabia and all the Saints, may the Lord bless our new parish, our bishop, clergy, religious and faithful!

Holy Father encourages Priests to make better use of the Web for Pastoral Ministry
The theme of the 44th World Communications Day on May 16, 2010 is "The Priest
and Pastoral Ministry in a Digital World: New Media at the Service of
the Word." It focuses on Priests using digital communications for ministry.
Priests are challenged to proclaim the Gospel by making
astute use of modern communications employing the latest in audiovisual resources (images,
videos, animated features, blogs, websites) which, alongside
traditional means, can open up new vistas for dialogue,
evangelization and catechesis. Priests can, thus, help the men and women of our digital age to
know the Lord's presence, to grow in expectation and hope and to
draw near to the Word of God.
This year's theme is meant to coincide with the Church's celebration of the
Year for Priests. May the Lord make all priests enthusiastic heralds
of the Gospel in this digital age.
Lord, Make Us One! The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18-25)
Every January, churches from many different traditions set aside a special week to pray for Christian unity.
The theme for the annual celebration of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2010 has been announced by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the Commission on Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches. This year's chosen theme is: You Are Witnesses of These Things. It comes from Luke's gospel Chapter 24 verse 48.
During the past century reconciliation between Christians has taken on very different forms. Spiritual ecumenism has shown how important prayer is for Christian unity. Great energy has been put into theological research which has led to a large number of doctrinal accords. Practical cooperation between churches in the social field has given birth to fruitful initiatives. Alongside these major accomplishments, the question of mission has had a particular place .....

19 JUNE 2009 - 19 JUNE 2010 : YEAR OF THE PRIEST "Year of the Priest is a great opportunity for conversion," says Pope Benedict XVI, "May Christ be made ever more manifest in each one of us!"
Pope Benedict XVI has declared a "Year of the Priest" which will open with a vespers service at the Vatican on June 19 - the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the day for the sanctification of priests. He will close the celebrations during a World Meeting of Priests in St. Peter's Square on June 19, 2010. This year also marks the 150th anniversary of the death of the 19th-century saint - John Vianney, who represents a "true example of a priest at the service of the flock of Christ," the pope said. St. John Marie Vianney is widely known to Catholics as the Cure (parish priest) of Ars who won over the hearts of his villagers in France by visiting with them, teaching them about God and reconciling people to the Lord in the confessional. During this jubilee year, the pope will proclaim him to be patron saint of all the world's priests. At present, he is considered the patron saint of parish priests.
O Lord, may You find shelter and rest gently within the heart of Your priest...
Make him, O Lord, a priest according to Your heart: meek, humble, zealous, so that all he does will be for Your honor and glory.
Mold him into a man of prayer and labor, insensible to earthly things, and sensible only to Your love and to the graces of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
O God, You sent Your Son, Jesus, to bring eternal life to those who believe. I join Him in praying for laborers for Your harvest.
May Your Holy Spirit inspire men and women to continue His mission through Your priesthood, diaconate, religious life and lay ministry.
May this same Spirit make known Your Will for my life. Amen.
2nd SEPT 2009 : RELEASE OF BISHOP CAMILLO'S PASTORAL LETTER We Cannot Live Without The Eucharist: Pastoral Letter of H.L. Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ
H.L. Bishop Camillo's Pastoral Letter, "We Cannot Live Without the Eucharist!" comes to us on the 4th anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination. It is a cont- inuation of his previous two pastoral letters (released in 2007 and 2008).
In this letter, the Bishop invites the faithful to contemplate and comprehend in a deeper way what the Eucharist is! The title of the pastoral letter which is a profession of the testimony of the martyrs: We cannot live without the Eucharist! is a call to re-discover the beauty and the amazement of the Eucharist.
The main section of the pastoral letter is written in the form of questions and answers, compiled from the numerous questions that the Bishop has received from the faithful and from the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
2 SEPT 2008 : RELEASE OF BISHOP CAMILLO'S PASTORAL LETTER One Body in Christ: Pastoral Letter of His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ
H.L. Bishop Camillo's Second Pastoral Letter which was released on the third anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination is based on the Parts of the Holy Mass with a more detailed explanation of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. The title of the Letter has been taken from 1 Cor 10:17. St. Paul says: "And as there is one loaf, so we, although there are many of us, are one single body, for we all share in the one loaf."
In the introduction, reference to the Passover is used to illumine the meaning of Christ’s redeeming sacrifice. Jesus, an observant Jew, died at Passover. His Last Supper — where he gave us the Eucharist as a way to remember and receive him — was a Passover meal (Luke 22:7-38). A Christian Passover highlights the fact that Jesus’ death and resurrection is a new exodus. What does that mean for us? How can we live out this reality more fully? ...
The Letter concludes with notes and indications on how to use the letter.

21st SEPT 2007 : RELEASE OF BISHOP CAMILLO'S PASTORAL LETTER Eucharistic Amazement: Pastoral Letter of His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ
H.L. Bishop Camillo's Pastoral Letter of this year is on the Eucharist. The title of the Letter has been taken from the Papal Encyclical Ecclesia de Eucharistia, in which thrice Pope John Paul II described the Eucharist as "amazement".
The First Part of the Pastoral Letter explains in as simple terms as possible: the Biblical Roots of the Eucharistic Celebration, The Eucharist as a Sacrament of Unity, The Altar as Symbol of Christ and Music in the Liturgy. The Second Part of the Pastoral Letter closely examines the Liturgy of the Word. Each section of the Letter concludes with thought-provoking questions for a deeper understanding. Pastoral Letter: EUCHARISTIC AMAZEMENT ASK THE BISHOP: Send your questions / comments to H.L. Bishop Camillo.

B E A T I F I C A T I O N & C A N O N I S A T I O N C A U S E :
LET US PRAY: O Blessed Trinity, we thank You for having gifted the Church with Pope John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of Your Fatherly care, the glory of the Cross of Christ, and the splendour of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him. Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with You. Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your Will, the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon be numbered among Your saints. Amen.
This special devotion proposes the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as the model of virtue for all Christian families. The family of Nazareth teaches us what family life is (and should be) :- a unit of prayer, a communion of love; its austere and simple beauty, and above all, its sacred and inviolable character...
2. The Holy Trinity.
The Trinity is One. We do not confess three Gods, but one God in three Persons. The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith and of Christian life ... though the divine Persons are really three distinct Persons, everything in the Trinity is unity, union, and harmony in the highest and most beautiful sense of the word. It may not be easy for us to understand this mystery, yet God alone can make it known to us by revealing Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit ...
