Fr. Gabriel Dias was born in Bombay on 8th July, 1955. However, he was brought up in Goa where he spent his childhood as well as studied.

He obtained a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and worked for a few years in this field. In 1981, he got his calling and joined the Carmelite Order in Goa.

From 1981 until 1983, he did his postulancy, novitiate and profession at the Carmelite Seminary in Goa.

From 1983 until 1990, he joined the Jeppu Seminary in Mangalore and did his Theology and Philosophy studies there whilst staying at the Carmel House in Mangalore and attending the Jeppu Seminary as a day scholar.

Fr. Gabriel was ordained a priest on 22nd February, 1990.

After his ordination, he was posted to several parishes in Goa, Bombay and again in Goa. These postings were from 1990 until 1994.

In December 1994, he was posted to the Kuwait Vicariate where he served as Parish Priest for the Salmiyeh Area of the Vicariate.

Fr. Gabriel left the Vicariate of Kuwait for his new assignment in July 2001.
