For Christian parents and Catechists, no other day holds greater joy than the day when those under their responsibility are duly prepared and finally receive the Sacraments of the Church. Thanks to Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour, the 26th of April 2001 saw fifty-three children receiving their First Holy Communion in the Holy Redeemer Chapel, Salmiya. H.L. Bishop Francis Micallef, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Dias and Rev. Fr. Melvin D’Cunha concelebrated the Mass. To support the communicants were their parents and relatives who were accommodated in the ‘new’ extended chapel premises. On the 17th of May 2001, we celebrated yet another joyous event when H.L. Bishop Francis Micallef conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on eighty-seven of our parish children. The Mass was concelebrated by H.L. Bishop Francis Micallef, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Dias, Rev. Fr. Melvin D’Cunha and Rev. Fr. Roland Fialho, a visiting priest. Inspite of the ongoing repairs at the Chapel, both the occasions were smoothly conducted - thanks to all the parish committees that worked hand in hand to make the premises usable for the special days. In Christ, all things are possible - All glory and honour to you, O Lord!
We convey our sincere thanks to our Bishop and Parish Priest for their support and guidance;
and the Catechists, parishioners and the Salmiya Children's Choir for their active participation by lending their time, energy and talent to enhance these memorable occasions.
