Sacramental Preparation

 BAPTISM

Preparation for the sacrament of the baptism of infants up to six years of age is offered to parents and godparents.  The Rite of Baptism is normally celebrated during weekend Masses.  For more information, please contact Sister Joan Sobala at (585) 473-9656

First Eucharist & First Reconciliation

Since each person's spiritual development is a unique opportunity for growth, immediate preparation for the first celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion is based on readiness, not age or grade level.  The proximate preparation, therefore, for the first celebration of these Sacraments is not part of the curriculum of the School of Religion.

Through Bulletin notices parents are informed of parent information meetings for determining a child's readiness.  Our programs are home-based with several enrichment sessions for both parents and children.

First Penance classes are held in the fall and First Communion classes take place in the spring.  Private instruction is available for older children who may have missed a sacrament.

For more information, please contact Don Smith or Karen Luke in the School of Religion at (585) 244-2361 or (585) 473-9656.

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation is made available to those who show a readiness to pursue their faith into the future.  The program begins in the fall with a retreat and continues with spring sessions and the celebration of the Sacrament in late spring.  Our Lady of Lourdes joins neighboring parishes for the celebration by going to the cathedral.

For more information, please contact Don Smith in the Youth Ministry Office at (585) 244-9763.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

With our partnering parish of Saint Anne, adults seeking to celebrate the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) prepare through weekly group meetings of learning and sharing.

For more information, please contact Deacon Bob Schrader at (585) 473-9656.

MARRIAGE

Couples desiring to celebrate the sacrament of Matrimony must contact the Pastor/Pastoral Administrator at least six months prior to the date of the wedding.  After an initial interview, preparation is provided through a diocesan or parish-based program.

For more information, please contact Sister Kay Schwenzer at (585) 473-9656.
