We can provide resources such as DVDs and posters and offer you support in getting started. There is a full training programme of 3 days, and all school volunteers are subject to CRB checks and our Child Protection Policy Briefing. If you are interested, please contact John Malley or Abby Dalgleish at the CAFOD office in Norwich (Tel. number in the Printed Newsletter).

Middle East Crisis
CAFOD has launched an appeal in response to the growing humanitarian crisis in the Middle East and is funding its local partners Caritas Jerusalem, working in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, and Caritas Lebanon.
Donations can be made via the website or by calling 0500 858 885

Indonesia Earthquake
CAFOD staff are part of the relief effort for those affected by the earthquake in Java, and financial help is also being given.
Partner agency JRS (Jesuit Refugee Services) is providing tents, food and blankets as around 200,000 people are left homeless.

East Africa
Two failed harvests and lack of rains have led to the deaths of thousands of livestock and left millions of people vulnerable to starvation in Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia
Relief efforts in Kenya are now even more vital after recent heavy rains killed off weak livestock and destroyed badly-needed roads to remote areas.

Unearth Justice
In May 2006, CAFOD launched a new campaign, Unearth Justice, which focuses on mining, oil and gas drilling, known collectively as the "extractive industries".
Developing countries the richest in natural resources such as oil and precious metals, are often those with the worst records on reducing poverty.
The campaign aims to ensure that poor communities benefit from the wealth that they are surrounded by, rather than being damaged by extractive industries.
