SAINT THÉRÈSE OF LISIEUX
The Relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux will be brought to England and Wales from 16th September to 16th October 2009. They will visit 22 cathedrals and churches. In the Diocese of East Anglia they will be hosted at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham from the afternoon of 6th October to after the 12 Noon Mass on the 7th October. A varied Programme will be organised throughout and there will be an All Night Vigil from 10pm to 6am with opening and closing Masses to cover the night hours.

YEAR FOR PRIESTS
The Holy See is offering a plenary indulgence for all faithful on the occasion of the Year for Priests, which is began 19th June and last one year. The Year for Priests marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Saint Jean Marie Vianney, also known as the Curé de Ars.
The decree noted that Benedict XVI will preside at the opening liturgy on 19th June, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, "a day of priestly sanctification." He will celebrate vespers before the relics of the saint, brought to Rome for the occasion by the Bishop of the French Diocese of Belley-Ars. The Year will end in St Peter's Square, in the presence of priests from all over the world "who will renew their faithfulness to Christ and their bonds of fraternity."
For priests, the plenary indulgence can be gained by praying lauds or vespers before the Blessed Sacrament exposed to public adoration or in the tabernacle. They must also "offer themselves with a ready and generous heart for the celebration of the sacraments, especially the sacrament of penance."
The plenary indulgence, which under current norms must be accompanied by sacramental confession, the Eucharist and praying for the intentions of the Pope, can also by applied to deceased priests. Priests are granted a partial indulgence, also applicable to deceased priests, every time they "devotedly recite the prayers duly approved to lead a saintly life and to carry out the duties entrusted to them."
For the faithful, a plenary indulgence can be obtained on the opening and closing days of the Year for Priests, on the 150th anniversary of the death of Saint Jean-Marie Vianney, on the first Thursday of the month, or on any other day established by the Ordinaries (Bishops) of particular places for the good of the faithful.
To obtain the indulgence the faithful must attend Mass in an oratory or Church and offer prayers to "Jesus Christ, supreme and eternal Priest, for the priests of the Church, or perform any good work to sanctify and mould them to his heart."
The conditions for the faithful for earning a plenary indulgence are to have gone to confession and prayed for the intentions of the Pope.
The elderly, the sick, and all those who for any legitimate reason are unable to leave their homes may obtain the plenary indulgence if, with the intention of observing the usual three conditions as soon as they can, "on the days concerned, they pray for the sanctification of priests and offer their sickness and suffering to God through Mary, Queen of the Apostles." A partial indulgence is offered to the faithful when they repeat five times the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be, or any other duly approved prayer "in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to ask that priests maintain purity and sanctity of life."
A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS
Lord Jesus, you have chosen your priests from among us and sent them out to proclaim your word and to act in your name.
For so great a gift to your Church, we give you praise and thanksgiving. We ask you to fill them with the fire of your love, that their ministry may reveal your presence in the Church.
Since they are earthen vessels, we pray that your power shine out through their weakness.
In their afflictions let them never be crushed; in their doubts never despair; in temptation never be destroyed; in persecution never abandoned. Inspire them through prayer to live each day the mystery of your dying and rising.
In times of weakness send them your Spirit, and help them to praise your heavenly Father and pray for poor sinners.
By the same Holy Spirit put your words on their lips and your love in their hearts, to bring good news to the poor and healing to the broken-hearted.
And may the gift of Mary your mother, to the disciple whom you loved, be your gift to every priest. Grant that she who formed you in her human image, may form them in your divine image, by the power of your Spirit, to the glory of God the Father.
Amen.

Mission Outreach
HELPERS OF MOTHER TERESA
We continue to meet monthly to knit or crochet children's clothes for African orphanages. Our goods are taken three times a year to an organization called Feed the Children, which is based in Ruscombe, near Reading, and has contacts in several African countries, and in Eastern Europe, and are able to distribute the goods where they are most needed. They are at present making an attempt to be accepted in Zimbabwe. During 2008 we sent 15 sacks of knitted blankets, hats, baby clothes and knits for children up to the age of 14. We are grateful to Frank Morgan, our transporter, and the many people who work at home for us, and to those who have donated wool. We have recently had an anonymous donation of a sack of squares for blankets, and would like to say a special thank-you for this. For more information please phone Maureen Harper on the number in the printed Newsletter, or Email.

Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, to Thee I consecrate and offer up my person and my life, my actions, trials, and sufferings, that my entire being may henceforth only be employed in loving, honouring and glorifying Thee. This is my irrevocable will, to belong entirely to Thee, and to do all for Thy love, renouncing with my whole heart all that can displease Thee.
I take Thee, O Sacred Heart, for the sole object of my love, the protection of my life, the pledge of my salvation, the remedy of my frailty and inconstancy, the reparation for all the defects of my life, and my secure refuge at the hour of my death. Be Thou, O Most Merciful Heart, my justification before God Thy Father, and screen me from His anger which I have so justly merited. I fear all from my own weakness and malice, but placing my entire confidence in Thee, O Heart of Love, I hope all from Thine infinite Goodness. Annihilate in me all that can displease or resist Thee. Imprint Thy pure love so deeply in my heart that I may never forget Thee or be separated from Thee.
I beseech Thee, through Thine infinite Goodness, grant that my name be engraved upon Thy Heart, for in this I place all my happiness and all my glory, to live and to die as one of Thy devoted servants.
Amen
