Memorial Day

Massena area Veterans faithfully carry on their practice of a memorial parade from Sacred Heart Church gathering place to the Andrews St. Park. Speeches, prayers, and music commemorate the life and death of all our military.

Among the marchers are always Trinity School’s marching band conducted by director Joyce Neilson. Here Principal Joan Rufa marches along with her band students.
Remembering our own dead, Sacred Heart pastor Fr. Don Manfred celebrated a noontime memorial Mass at Calvary Cemetery. The cool breezy day probably kept some attendees away. Still those there were quietly reflective of their purpose in being there.

May Crowning

In keeping with the deeply ingrained Catholic May devotion to Mary the religious education students gathered for the parish May crowning. Here Deacon Jim Hotte asists Lauren in her reverent task of placing the crown on Mary’s statue.
