ALTAR FLOWERS

The flowers in the vases on either side of the altar this weekend were given by VALERIE SMITH AND CHRISTOPHER ALLEY in memory of JEANNE SMITH.

The flowers last week given by Pat & Wini Barron were in honor of their granddaughters in Boston; Emma, who is making her First Communion, and Kathleen, who will receive the Sacrament of Baptism.

If you wish to donate flowers, please fill in your name and the intention on the list which is posted on the back bulletin board. For further information, call Pat or Wini Barron at 843-2522.

VOCATION RETREAT

The famous Gethsemani Trappist Abbey in Trappist, Kentucky (home of the late Thomas Merton) will be hosting free Live-in Vocational retreats soon. Work and pray with the monks on their 2000 acre farm and hear the vocational talks. There is no cost but space is limited. Dates include May 9-16th, June 2-9th, and July 4-11th. Weekend dates are also available. For more dates and info, call toll tree 1-800-221-1807.

JOIN THE NETWORK!

Sign up with the Virginia Catholic Conference web site (www.vacatholic.org) and let your voice be heard on high priority items and critical issues coming before the Virginia legislature. It’s free, it’s easy, and raises the volume to legislators.

COMMUNITY LIFE COMMITTEE

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

John and Marge Kellam are asking for ladies (and gentlemen) to join the Community Life Committee.

Duties include helping with food service at the monthly Senior Luncheons September through May, (some luncheons are held at local restaurants, so all you have to do is attend and enjoy the fellowship), set up, clean up; helping with food service at funeral receptions; and helping with church suppers and other functions.

None of the duties are especially onerous or time consuming. If we have enough members of the Committee, we can even stagger assignments.

This Committee is so important to our Parish Life, as well as providing outreach to seniors and the bereaved. Please consider joining this Committee – you will be made welcome with open arms and hearts!

Our thanks once again to the Kellams and the members of the Community Life Committee for the delicious lunch served on April 15th.

RECTORY AVAILABLE FOR RENT

If you or anyone you know is interested in renting the Rectory, please let the office know. We are asking $850 per month rent, plus $850 security deposit.

LOCAL PLANNING AREA PRESENTATION

Our parish will make a presentation after the Masses on Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th.

This presentation will give you an update on the plan that will most likely be presented to the Diocesan Planning Committee and the Bishop for approval. The deadline to submit this plan to the Diocese is May 31st. We will answer your questions and ask for your comments and suggestions.

Please join us for this important presentation. The future of our parish as we know it will be an integral part of the discussion.

THANK YOU

We thank the Knights of Columbus for their generous donation of $250 for the use of the van den Boogaard Hall when they held their annual Fish Dinner on February 22nd. From all accounts the event was a great success.
