Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish Honors Father Henry van den Boogaard and Father John Brieffies of the Missionaries of the Holy Family

On Sunday, July 20, the parish of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament honored Father Henry van den Boogaard and Father John Brieffies for their faithful service to the parish with the dedication of an icon of the Holy Family which will hang in the church.  The presence of the icon will serve as a reminder of their service to the parish.
Father John Brieffies of the Missionaries of the Holy Family came to West Point in 1971 as General Director of the Mission House located in West Point. He travels all over the country telling of the works of the Missionaries and spreading the Good News. Father John  also assists the OLBS priests by celebrating Mass in their absence.
Priests from the Missionaries of the Holy Family have been present in the West Point community since 1965 when Father Boogaard came to serve as pastor of OLBS. Father Boogaard helped design the present church building and led the parishioners in the making of the stained glass windows which adorn the church. He served as pastor from 1965 until 1978.
