Unbaptized Infants to Age 7

Sacrament of Baptism (for infants to age 7)

  • Congratulations on the new life with which God has blessed you!
  • Infant Baptisms are celebrated on Sunday. They may be celebrated at Mass.
  • Parents are expected to participate in pre-baptismal preparation beforehand. Call the Parish Office to arrange to attend one of these classes – during your pregnancy if possible.
  • Remember that Godparents need a letter of recommendation from their pastor.

Unbaptized Adults (Catechumens)

Sacraments of Initiation (for unbaptized adults)
(and for unbaptized children of a catechetical age)
BAPTISM, CONFIRMATION, AND FIRST EUCHARIST

A Catholic sponsor will assist you.

·        We are thrilled you are considering becoming a member of the Body of Christ. Welcome! Our weekly Inquiry Sessions will answer your questions and begin your preparation. We normally meet on Thursday evening. Contact the Parish Offices for more information.

1.     You are now an “Inquirer.” Once you have decided to definitely join us, we will celebrate your Entrance into the Catechumenate at Sunday Mass Plan to spend at least one year in formation. It would not be considered unusual to take three years in this preparation.

2.     Later on, our Bishop will celebrate your Election at Saint Paul Cathedral. You will then spend the season of Lent getting ready for these three Easter Sacraments (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist.)

3.     Every Easter, we celebrate the new life God has given us by receiving new members through these three Sacraments of Initiation.

4.     The Sacraments are followed by a 50-day honeymoon-like period we call "Mystagogia".

CONFIRMATION AND FIRST EUCHARIST

A Catholic sponsor will assist you.

·        The same Inquiry Sessions as those for the unbaptized Catechumens will answer your questions. Contact one of the priests for more information.

·        Before we complete your Initiation with the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion, we will spend some time attending to your formation. You probably will not proceed through the same four steps as the unbaptized Catechumens. Rather, the amount of time and preparation will depend on your own situation. The special graces of the Easter season may lead us to receive you at the same time that the whole Church renews our baptismal vows with the newly baptized.
