Welcome to our 2008/'09 program!
Last year, more than 545 students learned about God and the Catholic
faith from our dedicated group of volunteer catechists made up of students’
parents as well as other parishioners, all generous with their time and
talents.
Our class sessions are on Wednesday afternoons from 2:50pm-4:05pm
for grades 1-5, on Wednesday evenings from 7:20-8:35pm for grades 6-8, and a
‘full service’ Sunday session for grades K-8 from 10:10-11:25am, following our
parish Family Mass at 9am.
In second grade, we begin preparation for the sacrament of
healing, First Reconciliation and the second sacrament
of initiation, First Communion. Before
your child may begin preparing, he or she must first have participated in the ‘fun’-damentals of the 1st grade curriculum.
In eighth grade, we help students prepare themselves for the third
and last sacrament of initiation, Confirmation.
In order to join in that program of preparation, your middle-schooler should have studied the 6th and 7th
grade curricula mandated by the Archdiocese about the Jewish people, and the
life and mission of Jesus Christ. (Pope
Pius XI aptly called Catholics “spiritual Semites” and there is much which goes
into realizing such a call.)
If you have any questions or would like to discuss any aspect of
our Religious Education program or activities, please call any time at
834-4597. If I am not in, I will return
your call as soon as I am able to; or you may call and make an
appointment if you would like to talk, tour the premises with your child,
etc. Christ’s Peace,
Lu Doyle Director of Religious
Education
