Parish Elementary School

PARISH SCHOOL

Sts. John and Paul School was founded in 1952. Our present enrollment is 260 children (K-8). There are 16 certified teachers and an administrator, including Art/Art Education, Music, Spanish, Computers, and Physical Education. National test scores place Sts. John and Paul in the 82nd to 85th percentile on the California Test of Basic Skills (CTBS). The New York Pupil Evaluation Program (PEP) test places our school in the 96-100th percentile. The school has a well-stocked library (more than 10,000 books) and the eighth grade students have the opportunity for accelerated study in Integrated Math, a ninth grade Regents course.
Sts. John and Paul is first and foremost a Catholic School. The administration, faculty and staff are committed to academic excellence and encourage the children to be respectful of all life, providing them with the opportunities to practice Christian values through prayer, worship and service to others. Our students are challenged to become problem solvers and enthusiastic, inquisitive, self-motivated, life-long learners. We will continue to encourage respect for the changing needs of family, as well as the cultural diversity in our society.

 PARISH SCHOOL PARENTS ASSOCIATION (PSPA)

The Parish School Parents Association is involved on a daily basis with the life of our children at Sts. John and Paul School. It is responsible for funding and implementing many of the programs at SJP which make it an extraordinary parish school. The PSPA coordinates the lunchroom supervision, staffs the library with volunteers and contributes funding towards the hiring of the Classroom Aides, the school Psychologist, the Art program, the Spanish Program and the Computer program. It publishes the SJP yearbook, coordinates the Pizza Lunch, the Surprise Lunch and the After School Programs. The PSPA is able to finance these programs primarily from the proceeds of the annual fundraiser that is held each spring. The fundraiser is an opportunity for all school families to participate in a way that directly benefits every student
