School Administration
The Bishop of Manchester has primary responsibility and authority for Catholic schools. The Secretary
for Christian Formation is the Bishop's delegate and coordinates the activities of all educational
agencies in the diocese. The Superintendent of Schools is the chief administrative officer of the
diocesan school system. With the assistance of his associate superintendent, he supervises the
general administration of the schools and the diocesan education curriculum.
The Principal is the chief administrative officer of the school. With the help of the assistant principal, she
is responsible for the immediate direction of the school and its total educational program. The principal
carries out the administrative functions of the school in accordance with Diocesan and Department of
Catholic Schools policies, regulations and directives. She is the educational leader and steward of
school resources and is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Catholic identity of the school.
The Pastors of the parishes participating in the regional school have a special interest in the teaching of
the faith and are invited to share in the overseeing of the Christian education program of the school. The
pastor of St. Joseph Parish, the host parish of the school, is also responsible for the physical and
financial welfare of the school building programs and properties. He supports the role and responsibility
of the principal for the administration of the school and gives due consideration to administrative
decisions and recommendations. He takes a particular interest in matters within the school which affect
worship, the ministry of the Word and the spiritual welfare and moral formation of the students.
The Advisory School Board is empowered with supporting the Principal in the task of managing SJRCS.
The Board provides expertise and guidance in finance, planning, building and policy issues. It provides
stability and continuity and a positive voice for the school and assures fidelity to the vision of our Catholic
school.
