Spanish (2 day) grades 6, 7, 8 not previously enrolled in Spanish elective may begin a study of the Spanish language
and culture.
Advanced Spanish (3 day) students who have completed Spanish I and II from previous years will continue language and cultural studies.
Ms. Spence will make the final determination if a student qualifies. (Ms. Spence)
Practice Language Arts
(2 days) Students will receive additional practice in Language Arts skills appropriate for their
grade level. (Mrs. Budd)
Public Speaking
(3 days) Can you convince people to see your point of view? Discover the secrets of persuasive
speaking and increase your confidence for addressing groups of people. (Mrs. Budd)
Fitness
This course will include basic Pilates, aerobics, dance, and other fitness exercises to improve overall performance,
balance, flexibilty, and coordination. (Mrs. Cicalese)
3-D Art
This (2 or 3 day) course is designed to develop and refine three-dimensional design concepts, particularly
through the understanding and appropriate use of available materials and tools. This class will enable students to experience a unique opportunity
to develop motor, perceptual and cognitive skills. Projects will give students an opportunity to "build" and transform their ideas and designs into
3-dimensional pieces of artwork. Projects will include, but are not limited to, various works made of wood, metal, wire, paper, papier-mdche,
linoleum, plaster, cardboard, and clay. (Miss Veal)
Percussion I
Stage Ensemble (2 day)- This group can consist of students with a basic background in reading musical rhythms. The class will
consist of exercises in reading rhythms and will include repertoire utilized in concert ensembles. Possible instrumentation can include
but is not limited to: bells, marimba, xylophone, bass drum, snare, hand percussion, cymbals, and tripod drums. Goals will include
performances in concerts. (Ms. Thomas)

Percussion II
Drumming and movement ensemble (3 day)- Students need to have a basic comfort level with musical rhythms, as well as an openness
to adding light choreography to their performance. The instrumentation will consist of a variety of drum types, possibly including
the 'household items' approach taken by such groups as Stomp! Goals will include performances at concert functions and possible
field trips to enhance understanding of this style of performance.
Sceintific Forensics
This (3 day) course will help students understand the processes of scientific investigation and
develop better laboratory and data collection techniques by incorporating key scientific concepts and lab experiments into age-appropriate
forensic-based mysteries. (Miss Graham) Limited enrollment.
Reading Circle
(2 days) Dr. O'Sullivan will lead this class through the study of various novels including characterization, dissection
of plot, and discussion of style.
