Catholic Schools - Light The Way
If you are waiting for a sign from God, this is it. Messages come to us in many ways: from our loved ones, from our environment, from
events, from people's words, and even from their silent actions. When you are lonely and afraid let God help you. "Even if I walk
through a very dark valley, I will not be afraid, because you are with me." Psalm 23:4

In Rememberance of Brendan
Last year, the Brendan P. Opdycke Memorial Graduation Scholarship Fund
was created in honor of Brendan. This gift is presented to a graduating 8th grade boy planning to attend Bethlehem Catholic High School.
Also this year, we established the Brendan P. Opdycke SSPJ Memorial Scholarship Fund. The purpose of this fund is to assist families
of our elementary school students who experience a change in circumstance during the school year. This scholarship was set up because
Brendan loved being at SSPJ and it made a huge difference in his life. With graducation fast approaching, if, after prayerful thought,
you decide to make your charitable donations to either of these funds, please write either 'graduation' or 'elementary school' on the memo
line of your check. God Bless you and thank you for all you have done for my son -- it is because of your kindness and love that
he loves on in our hearts.
God Bless my SSPJ Family, Barbara & Dana Opdycke

Bring Flowers of the Fairest, Bring Flowers of the Rarest
The beauty of our Earth is heralded by the explosion of color bursting
from trees and flowers. Ready, willing and able were students and parents of SSPJ supporting a healthier, happier Earth. Saturday
morning, while the Carnival crew began setting up for their yearly event, many other dedicated volunteers came, toting garden tools and
gloves. They pulled weeds, dug flower holes, shoveled mulch and planted more flowers in our school garden and other areas. All their
hard work is evident by the beauty!
Many thank to Mr. & Mrs. Perna, who organized this worthwhile event and gave of their time and materials. Thank to all the parents
who donated flowers. You continue to demonstrate our school community's generosity. Lastly, thank to all our big-hearted gardeners,
Blessed Mother Mary looks out over the feilds and thanks God for you!
Dear Carnival Volunteers:
I want to thank you for all you did to make this year's Carnival
a success. As you know, it takes over 60 volunteers per shift to run the Carnival. Without all of your time and support, our carnival
would not be a success. It is because of your hard work that our school family and the community are able to enjoy a wonderful spring
event.
In spite of the cold and damp weather, our carnival was able to profit $40,000.00. Congratulations to all volunteers on such a successful
outcome!
I would also like to extend a special thank you to the carnival committee for their hard work and endless hours that they give to the Carnival
throughout the school year. The carnival truly would not be possibleif it were not for this committee. Saints Philip and James School
is truly blessed to have these dedicated volunteers: Mrs. O'Sullivan, Mr. Gormly, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Sharkey, Mr. Kucisnki, Mr. Tickle,
Mr. Magliochetti, Mrs. Finegan, Mrs. Caprio, Mrs. Gale, Mrs. Gale, Mrs. Redington, Mrs. Summers, Mr. Summers.
We continue to Thank God for all the blessings He has given us and we look forward to next year's Carnival!
Sincerely, Mrs. Kucinski Carnival Chairperson
