HSA Meeting Tonight - Internet Safety
Special Guest: FBI Net Specialist
We are once again focusing on Internet safety during the first HSA meeting tonight at 7 PM, but this year we have changed things around a bit.
First of all, the guest speaker is from the FBI. Secondly, we are encouraging our children in the fourth grade and above to join
their parents for what is sure to be a very valuable discussion on how families can effectlivelyand more importantly safely use the Internet.
For those parents with younger children, babysitting will be provided. If you have not sent in your RSVP, it is not too late. Just
call Mrs. Hilliard with the ages of the children who require babysitting.
Car Magnets for Sale!
If you are interested in purchasing the large, oval gray and blue SSPJ magnets, there are additional ones for sale. Just drop a note
into the HSA mailbox in the office, attention Mrs. Hilliard, with your name and $5.
The Book Fair is Coming!
Our Scholastic Book Fair will be held on Monday, November 5th through Thursday, November 8th in the Holy Family Library. There will be an opportunity
for you to Christmas shop for your family and friends -- and don't forget to check out the "Wish List" for your child's teachers and classrooms.
Also, Thursday night, November 8th is a special "Family Night," from 6-8 PM, for your shopping convenience!
BINGO Information
Thank you to all the families who are supporting BINGO. For anyone
who has not worked at BINGO before, the following is a description of each job:
Member-in-Charge: This is the person who is ultimately responsible for what happens during the evening. He/She is responsible for the
money and the paperwork. He/She will answer questions that occur during the evening. This is the person to go to when you first get to
Mercy Hall.
Caller: This person calls out the BINGO numbers. When there is a winner, the Call Back person will read the card's serial number
back to the Caller to verify the winner. The Caller will also, if needed, sell the admission packets to the players before BINGO begins.
Call Back: This person will go to the winner and read the serial number from their BINGO card back to the Caller. The Caller will
verify if it is a winning card. If it is a winner, go to the Pay Master for the money and bring it to the winner. The Call Back person
also sells Pull Tabs before BINGO starts and during the intermission. Pull Tabs are cards purchased for $1.00. The player pulls the
tab off the card. The card will indicate if the person is an instant winner. Prize amounts will be printed on the card.
Pay Master: This person helps the Member-in-Charge sell the 'specials.' Specials are games that can be purchased in addition
to the admission packet. Once BINGO starts, the Pay Master will give prize money to the Call Back person who will give the money to the winner.
Kitchen: This person serves as hospitality. They serve coffee and refreshments. After the intermission, they clean up the counter
areas and put the food away. They also assist the Call Back person if there is more than one winner.
BINGO is the largest source of income for our school outside of tuition. All proceeds go directly to SSPJ. Hopefully with the help of all our
families, we can generate even more income. Thank you again for your help.

at SSPJ. It is very though-provoking and wondrous. We encourage all of our SSPJ families to make a few minutes of quiet time available
to appreciate its amazing truth. To view The Interview With God, visit www.TheInterviewWithGod.Com
and click 'View Presentation' at the right. You need to have a Flash Player installed to view. You will be glad you did!
As will all Internet use, SSPJ suggests you use caution when following links and does not endorse, approve, or support outside websites.

Breakfast With Santa
That's right folks... it's less than 2 months away and it's time to
mark your calendar for the BREAKFAST WITH SANTA. This year's visit from the North Pole is scheduled for Saturday morning, December
1st in the school cafeteria.
This fun event has been a part of the SSPJ holiday tradition for years and is open to all our SSPJ families and friends. The morning
begins with a hearty breakfast prepared and served by unusually large, but friendly elves. Afetr enjoying your meal, there are activities
for the kids and, of course, an opportunity for boys and girls of all ages to visit with Santa! To top it all off, we will once again
be opening Santa's Secret Holiday Workshop in the Holy Family Library (the secret is how it gets there unnoticed by all) to provide children
with an opportunity to find that perfect gift for Mom, Dad, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and best friends, too!
Of course, gift wrapping is offered free of charge.
Be sure to join us for this festive event, which is sure to be a hit for children of all ages. Look for ticket information and
event details in future newsletters, but mark the date now so you don't miss it during the busy holiday season!
**Since Santa's regular elves are so busy prepping for the big day later in the month, we are always in need of volunteers - No prior elfing experience
is required. We need help with set-up/decoration, activities coordination, workshop management, meal prep, and of course -everyone's
favorite- clean-up. We will be contactinbg those of you that have already signed up to help with the event in the coming weeks.
If you would like to add your name to that list or have any questions regarding this year's Breakfast, please contact Mr. or Mrs. Morris by
phone or email them.
"HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."
Chess Club to Begin!
Chess Club is ready to begin! There are a few changes to this year's
program. This year chess club is open to those students in second through eighth grade. It will meet in the cafeteria on Fridays from
dismiaal until 3:45 PM.
There will be three "Instructional Chess" days available to any grade 2-8 student who would like to learn how to play. These students
need to attend all three dates in order to learn the game and to add the to the enjoyment of everyone in the Chess Club.
What to Bring/Not to Bring:
Chessboards are provided, but a student may bring his/her own. There are students at Saints Philip and James with severe allergies.
We will be meeting in the cafeteria and using many tables, therefore, we ask that our Chess Club families continue your awareness and sensitivity
to this fact and not bring a snack to Chess Club. A student may bring a drink.
Last year our Chess Club boasted nearly thirty member! Come join us this year for a year of challange and fun. As per school procedure,
please send in a note stating your child's intention of joining. Address the note to Miss Graham.
