TEACHERS GO TO SCHOOL

On the stormy night of October 17, The Diocese of Metuchen hosted a renowned educator, Dr. Barent Walsh. Most of our faculty braved the deluge of rain and the two hour, one way drive, to learn, "New Developments in Understanding and Treating Self-Injury" in children.
Our faculty cares and extends themselves to continually increase their knowledge base and improve strategies for the sake of children.
GOD BLESS THE CHILDREN...

STOP, DROP, AND ROLL: THE MORNING QUEUE

To all the most well-meaning Moms and Dads, who fuss about the children, getting out of the car on the drop off queue line, Please don't. Have the child/ren ready to disembark as you drive up. If more time is necessary, park and fuss all you want. Too many close calls have been happening due to patiently annoyed drivers, pulling around the said stopped cars, to drop off alongside the line. Please remember - Stop, Drop, Check for Children and Roll!!!

THANK YOU MRS. GORDA

The HSA Board would like to thank Mrs. Gorda, her entire committee and all that helped make the Basket Bingo such a great success. We thank you all for your time and fabulous support.

HIGH SCHOOL VISITATION

Our eighth graders were invited to spend a day in each of the two Pennsylvania Catholic High Schools, Notre Dame and Bethlehem Catholic. The students were able to speak with high school students, tour the buildings, and attend some classes. Two wonderful days! SSPJ was well represented by 23 of our students at Notre Dame and 20 at Bethlehem Catholic. One of our students commented that she was able to answer one of the problems presented in the Algebra II class she was visiting. Another thought our Social Studies curriculum well prepares our students for high school Social Studies. Thanks, 8th Grade. We are proud of your representation!

RULE #14 -"ANSWER ALL WRITTEN QUESTIONS WITH A COMPLETE SENTENCE"

"This rule helps students to develop a command of the written language. It helps them learn to develop and organize their thoughts, especially when the questions require a short but thought-out answer."

CHRISTIANS ARE LIKE PUMPKINS

What is it like to be a Christian? How does it feel to know the love of God-to know that he has washed away your sins at Jesus' cross and given you new life, a life that really counts and will last forever? Someone has said that it's a little like being a pumpkin! God comes to us and picks us up from a lonely, cold field. He washes off all the dirt of our sin. He removes the seeds o doubt, fear and hate that have grown inside us. Then he places within us the light of his love. This love warms our hearts. What was once filled with darkness is now flooded with light. That love puts a smile on our face! Now the whole world can see God's shining in us! The fair hours will be 8:30 to 3:30-Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday---AND Wednesday night - 6:00 to 8:00. This is a great opportunity to Christmas shop! Also, for your convenience, this year Scholastic Books will accept all major credit cards! Look for a flyer next week with a list of some of the books at our fair. Give your child the gift of reading! Visit our Scholastic Book Fair.

HSA Meeting - Internet Safety

We are once again focusing on Internet safety during the first HSA meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 8 at 7PM. Guest speaker Detective Michael Tansey will provide the very valuable insight, coaching, and advice as he has in the past to help all families effectively and, more importantly, safely use the Internet.
He will explore general Internet safety, information pertaining to online predators, and how we all can keep our children safe. Detective Tansey is personally driven to keep children safe as he looks out for his own children and, fortunately for us, has also adopted the children of SSPJ. The evening will prove to be an enlightened, educational experience as Detective Tansey provides tools and suggestions to keep your children safe. Since online predators are finding new ways to exploit your children, this seminar is worthy of your attendance even if you have attended it in the past.
The NJ High Tech Crime Unit requests that no children attend the presentation due to the sensitive nature of the material that will be presented.
Therefore, babysitting will be provided by the older students of SSPJ with Mrs. Sena. Please add the number of children and ages with your RSVP in the packet.

Please Excuse Our Delay!

Our webpage updates have been temporarily delayed due to upgrades being performed by our web host. Mr. Fabian, the technologist in charge of Catholic-Church.org has informed me that these upgrades should be completed sometime this week.
Thank you for your continued patience as we wait for the betterment of our hosting site. This will benefit us all as we begin changing and upgrading our own website in the near future.
