STUDENT COUNCIL CHANGE CHALLENGE!!!

Dear Students and Parents of SSPJ,
The Student Council is having a fundraiser called the Change Challenge. In this contest, students in grades K-8 will be "competing" for a prize that the teacher(s) of the winning grade will decide on. In order to win, the grade must have collected the most change - pennies, dimes, nickels, etc. Bills are not allowed. A large jar will be placed in each classroom so the children can deposit their change. The contest starts on November 9, 2006 and will end around the end of the month (we will inform you of that date as we approach it). The money we will collect will go towards fun-filled activities for the students such as dances and guessing games.
So help us out and send your pocket change to school with your child to put in the classroom jar. Thanks!
Sincerely, Your Student Council

RULE #17 - "WHEN WE ARE IN TRANSITION FROM ONE SUBJECT TO THE OTHER, THE CHANGE WILL BE SWIFT, QUIET, AND ORDERLY. WE SHOULD BE CONSISTENTLY ABLE TO TURN FROM ONE BOOK TO ANOTHER, COMPLETE ALL HOMEWORK AND NECESSARY MATERIALS, AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. THE OPPORTUNE AMOUNT OF TIME TO SPEND IN TRANSITION SHOULD BE LESS THAN TEN SECONDS, AND WE WILL WORK TOWARD A GOAL OF SEVEN SECONDS."
Ron Clark

"In our daily lives, we are faced with multiple tasks that we must accomplish each day. Often, instead of completing all of the tasks in an orderly fashion, we are interrupted by distractions such as the telephone, that tempting TV show, that comfy couch, or conversations with coworkers. We could be so much more efficient if we could just stick to our goals, complete them and then use the remaining time for our leisure activities. Try to get students to stay on task, take care of business first, and remain motivated until the job at hand is complete."

Thank You to Everyone Who Contributed to the Success of the Basket Bonanza!

As you know, our school's fall fundraiser was Friday, October 20th. You could feel the excitement in the air! It appeared as if a good time was had by all, especially those who won! While the totalsare not yet complete, I definitely want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made the evening a success! First and foremost, let us not lose sight of how blessed we are by the children at SSPJ. They are the motivation behind all that we do. We are also blessed by our school families and our community. Our sponsors were amazing this year. Many of our sponsors were repeats from previous years. Without each and every one of these components, this event would not have been possible.
As all of you know, the committee began preparing for this event in July. I must extend a most sincere and heartfelt thank you to the Basket Bonanza Committee. Their donation of time and talent made this year's Basket Bonanza a success. Each one of them bought their own unique and creative talents which collectively produced an outstanding event! Thank you!
