RULE #18 - "MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO BE AS ORGANIZED AS POSSIBLE."

"Teach students to be more organized by showing them examples of how you yourself are organized and the type of structure you expect from them. One thing is that you should never assume anything about what a student, or any person, knows or understands how to do. It is always best to be specific about your expectations."

HSA Meeting - Internet Safety

Numerous parents and teachers took part in the HSA meeting focusing on Internet safety. The key message presented by the two NJ State Detectives - involvement. Staying involved and being aware of your child's activity on the computer, within chat rooms, cell phone text messaging, etc. is the key to keeping everyone safe. The NJ State Police are currently investigating over 80,000 individuals for computer related criminal activity, much of it focused on children. Therefore, we all need to be as vigilant in protecting our children from strangers on the Net as we would in the neighborhood.
We also want to thank Mrs. Sena, Mrs. Halm, and the members of Girl Scout Troop #5112 for making our babysitting during the seminar such a great success. All the children had fun watching the Disney Cars movie, coloring, drawing, eating a snack, and interacting with each other.

Coordinator for Parent Advocacy

A new coordinator position has been added to the HSA by the Diocese. We are currently seeking someone to be the Coordinator for Parent Advocacy for the New Jersey Network of Catholic School Families. The role of this coordinator is to be the liason between the Network and our school so that we can notify our families about important issues in the New Jersey legislature that affect our children and Catholic schools. If you would be interested in this position or have any questions about the position, please call Mr. or Mrs. Hilliard.

School Choice Rally in Trenton

The New Jersey Network of Catholic School Families is organizing a School Choice Rally before the New Jersey Assembly Education Committee Meeting on November 20, 2006. The purpose of this rally is to lend a voice and presence to the issue that residents of New Jersey should have a choie of spending their tax dollars to send their children to Catholic schools. Parents, students and friends of Catholic education throughout the state will gather at 11:30 AM for one hour on the steps of the State House in Trenton.

Still looking for decorations that need a good home
If you have any indoor Christmas decorations that are no longer a perfect fit for your home, we want them! We are looking for ornaments for school tree and other items that can be used to help transform the cafeteria into a winter wonderland for this year's Breakfast with Santa. If you have any items that you would like to donate, please place them in the ornament donation box outside the cafeteria during drop-off or pick-up. If you would prefer that we pick them up from you, just give Mr. Morris a call or email him to arrange a time to have them picked up.

Attention Breakfast with Santa Volunteers
If you had previously signed up to volunteer for this year's Breakfast with Santa event and have not yet been contacted to confirm, please contact Mr. Morris this week by phone or email. We are finalizing volunteer assignments this week and will be sending out the volunteer schedule and instruction packet next week. We are still looking for volunteers for event clean-up (during and after the event), kitchen crew, and the children's activity center. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
