HAVE A MOST BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The HSA would like to wish all of you and your families a Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year!
Thank You to Our Book Fair Volunteers!!
First, a blessed thank you to Mrs. Bibeau - without her help, the
Book Fair would not have been a huge success -- She was my strength to get the Book Fair started and helped me all the way through!
Thank You, Mrs. Bibeau!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents, students, teachers, staff, and volunteers for making the Book Fair a
huge success - we surpassed our goal and as a result, our library receives beautiful books! The children had a great time browsing and
shopping, and our teachers received many of their 'wish list' books for their classrooms thanks to all our generous parents.
A special thank you to our volunteers: Mrs. Socci, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Ayala, Mrs. Canize, Mrs. Henley, Mrs. Plakotaris, Mrs. Hannema, Mrs.
McLoughlin, Mrs. Summers, Mrs. Ellerth, Mrs. Sciascia, Mrs. Hillhouse, Mrs. Lavigne, Mrs. Peiffer, Mrs. Titus, Mrs. MacIsaac, Mrs. Dean,
Mrs. Eckard, Mrs. Sangi, Mrs. Finn, and Mrs. Tavormina. A special THANK YOU to Mrs. Patti, my 'financial assistant' for all her dedication
and long hours in helping me keep up to date on the finances -- another 'angel' from God.
God Bless You,
Mrs. Opdycke
Happy Advent! Merry Christmas!
As we light our fourth candle, the days of Advent unfold and we look
with eager eyes toward the light of Baby Jesus' crib. The bustle of the season finds us searching through our mail for greetings from
friends and family. Somewhere in the mound of envelopes are numerous requests for donations to various charities, often very worthwhile ones.
This year, we ask you to consider keeping your chartiable donations close to home -- your SSPJ home. We have food drives, coat drives,
collections for cancer research, our Heifer International project, and it is always heartwarming to see the generosity of our SSPJ families.
In addition, we have two scholarship funds in memory of Brendan P. Opdycke. Last year, the Brendan P. Opdycke Memorial Graduation
Scholarship Fund was created. This gift is presented to a graduating 8th grade boy planning to attend Bethlehem Catholic High School.
This year we are establishing the Brendan P. Opdycke Memorial Scholarship Fund for SSPJ. The purpose of this fund is to assist families
of our elementary school students who experience a change in circumstance during the school year. Citeria and applications are in process.
If, after prayerful thought, you decide to make your charitable donations to either of these funds, please write either "graduation"
or "elementary school" on the memo line of your check.
Thank you for you consideration and may all of our families have a Mery Christmas and Blessed New Year.
A True Blessing -- Books in Memory of Brendan
This year during the Book Fair, books were donated to our library,
through your very gracious kindness, in Memory of my son, Bendan P. Opdycke. A total of $2,663.70 in books were donated in his name.
Scholastic was kind enough to match dollar for book and 2,663 BOOKS were donated to Toys for Tots, Kids in Distress, and The National
Center for Family Literacy, in Memory of Brendan.
God has certainly blessed me with the beauty of my SSPJ family -- thank you all for honoring me with these wonderful gifts. My heart
is warmed by having such wonderful friends.
May God bless you and have a beautiful and blessed Christmas.
With love to all,
Mrs. Opdycke
