RULE #39
"REMEMBER TO GIVE A COMPLIMENT WHEN YOU MEET A PERSON OR VISIT SOMEONE'S HOME/CLASSROOM, ETC."

"For example, if you visit someone's home it would be a nice gesture to tell them that you think they have nice curtains. People are always self-conscious when they have guests visit their home, so you want to make them feel at ease. Also, if we are visiting other places, such as a museum or theater, it would be nice to comment on how beautiful the architecture is or to tell the guide that you think the facility is very nice."
-RON CLARK-

7th Grade at Valley Forge

Friday, January 19, the 7th grade visited Valley Forge National Histori Park in Valley Forge, PA. After viewing a short film, our group set off for a 3 hour guided bus tour with a uniformed Continental soldier as our guide. The bus stopped at several key places throughout the park, where our group exited the bus and toured the soldier's hut and George Washington's headquarters, among other places. Our guide, Steve Ross, commented that the group was extremely well-behaved and well-informed. Our 7th graders kept him on his toes with many questions as we stood in the freezing cold weather! We all agreed that we could now more fully appreciate the hardships and suffering of the soldiers encamped at Valley Forge during the cold winter of 1777-78! Great job 7th grade!

SSPJ 'Bishop Bootkoski Appreciation Day' Was Greatly Appreciated!

From the moment he entered our school for two wonderful hours, our Bishop was greeted, entertained, SSPJ educated, honored and delighted by the children, faculty, staff and parents.
Our Student Council Officers along with the Council representatives and children from each of our other home rooms, greeted and introduced themselves to Bishop Paul Gregory Bootkoski in the foyer of our school. Also touring were Msgr. Michael J. Corona and Sr. Sheila Conley. The students explained to the Bishop that it was his special day here, the Bishop's Appreciation Day. He now understood that each class had intertwined their regular curriculum with a theme honoring the Bishop. Two strong themes were evident: Like Christ as the Good Shepherd, the Bishop watches over his flock of Metuchen, and using the Bishop's motto, 'God's Grace Suffices' many lessons and bulletin boards were created in his honor.

B I N G O !

Unfortunately, we are in desperate need of BINGO workers to adequately staff the three weekly BINGO sessions (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) that are offered. Just last week several regular patrons had to help run the game I was calling. Without the volunteers to sell boards, call, staff the kitchen, 'call back' winning boards, and serve as member in charge, the popularity of SSPJ's BINGO will fade along with the assistance it provides the school. Please consider volunteering! It really is one of the simplest ways to meet the commitment we all made to support the school when we enrolled our children. Reinforce that commitment the Catholic Schools Week by calling the Church office at 454-0112 and signing up. I hope to see you there...
Mr. Morris
