ASH WEDNESDAY

Lent invites us to see how to let God's Word make a difference in our lives. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. The Gospel for Ash Wednesday is from Matthew, Chapter 6: "When you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites. They neglect their appearance, so that they may appear to others to be fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you may not appear to be fasting, except to your Father who is hidden. And your Father who sees what is hidden will repay you." Matthew 6:16-18. It's a very practical message on how to live and how to pray.

RULE #50
"TEACH CHILDREN TO BE POSITIVE AND ENJOY LIFE."

"Some things just aren't worth getting upset over. Help your child/ren keep everything in perspective and focus on the good in his/her life."
-RON CLARK-

"HOLY CHILDHOOD" -- SACRIFICING FOR LOVE

Today, Ash Wednesday, we begin the holy season of Lent. During these 40 days we offer prayer and personal sacrifice in order to grow closer to God and renew our faithfulness to Jesus Christ. It is also a most appropriate time to turn our attention to others in the world. We can offer the same prayer and sacrifice to the world's poorest countries and especially their children through the Holy Childhood Lenten offering boxes. With hearts filled with love and boxes filled with coins, whatever the gift, we help those who are less fortunate. Please return the offering boxes by Monday, April 16th. May Christ be your guide as you walk the way to a Joyous Easter.

THANK YOU

A huge thank you for all the gifts, love, support and especially all your prayers for me while I was recovering from my fall. You truly showed me what "family" is and why I love working here. A special thank you to all the students who made get well cards for me, they were very enjoyable to read. It is wonderful to be back!

The Career Extravaganza was a Success!

On Friday, February 16, 6 parents got involved and 1 sister shared their day with SSPJ students in grades 3-8 to give some insight into their careers. Each presenter shared information about their job and their daily tasks and the education that was needed to get their position. They showed us some props and tools of the trade involved with their jobs and even gave us some freebies!
The Girl Scouts of Troop 5112 would like to thank all the participants of the Career Extravaganza. We couldn't have done it without you! Thank you for your support and for making our Career Day a success.
We would also like to offer a special thank you to Mrs. Opdycke for allowing us to take over her library for the day and Mrs. Sena for giving us permission to make this career fair happen.
