LENT

God's love for us is boundless and free. It is neither marked by privilege nor by calculation. What would our life look like if we let go of our measures? To give without looking for anything in return; to love without counting the cost; to share knowing we will never be an equal recipient.
Jesus calls us to love with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. There are no bounds to God's love for us, or on Jesus' commandment of love.
Jesus help us be free from our measaured ways so we can love with boundless charity.
Amen.

REMINDER: Enrollment Contracts are now due!!

If you have not sent in your enrollment contract for 2008/2009, please do so immediately! Thank you for your kind cooperation.

It's In There

We would like to remind our students and parents of some items mentioned in the Student/Parent Handbook:

  • Please leave all toys at home. Lower grade students bringing toys for show & tell should keep the toys in a bag, labeled with the student's name. We have seen a flurry of Webkins coming into school. We are not only concerned about the value of these items, but also the distraction they cause.
  • Please remove nail polish.
  • Light make-up is defined as light colored lipstick, light colored eye shadow, and perhaps light cover-up. No eyeliner nor glitter make-up please.

7th Grade Follows the Trail of the Founding Fathers in Historic Philadelphia!

On Friday, Februry 29, the seventh grade visited Philadelphia for a day steeped in history and fun. We began our day with the Constitutional Walking Tour, a 1.25 mile outdoor walking adventure. We visited more than 20 of the most significant historical sites in Philadelphia, including Independence Hall, Christ Church Burial Ground (final resting place of Ben Franklin) and the Declaration House (where Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence). Afterward, we proceeded to the National Constitution Center, the first and only museum in the US devoted to the teaching of the Constitution. We enjoyed over 100 interactive exhibits, including the American National Tree, and The Tower of Law. Some of us even took the Oath of Office and were sworn in as President! We ended our tour of the Museum in Signers' Hall, a room full of lifelike sculptures of the 39 signers of the Constitution and the three men who dissented and chose not to sign. All in all, a very full day of fun and learning!

Dear SSPJ Families:

It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to the wonderful families of Saints Philip and James School. We have been so very blessed to be a part of the SSPJ community, growing as individuals, and as a family, in faith and love. We have only fond memoried of our time spent here, which makes it all the more difficult for us to leave. As we embark on this new journey that God has called us on, please know that you will always hold a very dear and special place in our hearts.
We appreciate all the prayers, support, notes, and cards that we have received since sharing the news of our move. They have warmed our hearts and given us the courage to move forward. A very special thank you goes out to Mrs. Morris' former Kindergarteners who contributed to the memory album. It is a keepsake that will always be treasured, reminding me of the special bonds we formed in the classroom.
We hope to hear from you in the future, and we welcome your correspondence and e-mails. God bless you all, and let us move forward to love and serve the Lord!
Love,
The Morris Family
