CALLING ALL MOMS!

DON'T FORGET--MARK YOUR CALENDERS FOR FRIDAY, MAY 11TH--WE ARE PLANNING SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR OUR SSPJ MOMS!

St. Patrick's Day

Looking for some blarney gold? Perhaps it's already within you!
"We come to you with open heart
May we receive what you impart.
You tide us over through our days
And help us in so many ways.
We strive to give with care and kindness
Through trust in love, with thoughts of oneness.
Our worldwide home becomes our family
As one to one we act most kindly.
A circle of love, a home of peace
A planet in harmony, where conflict has ceased.
Sisters and brothers, young and old
Give of your hearts - that's blarney gold."

RULE #53
"NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES, ALWAYS BE HONEST."

"Always be honest, even if you have done something wrong. It is always best to admit it, people can respect that. It is important to tell the truth, because respect and trust can go a very long way."
-RON CLARK-

Are Your Children Safe?

As parents we worry about our children's personal safety, but there is another kind of safety we sometimes forget to teach our children - healthy eating habits.
Tonight at 7 PM, the HSA will offer a Children's Nutrition Discussion.
Please join Warren Hospital's certified nutritionist, Florence Norelli, as she speaks about how we as parents can help our kids develop good eating habits and discuss tools to keep them eating helthy.
It may not seem so imperative, but remember poor eating can dramatically affect our children's lives. Did you know...

  • Proper nutrition can prevent medical problems, including being overweight, developing weak bones and developing diabetes, asthma, and hypertension.
  • Over 30% of 6 to 19 year olds are overweight, with over 15% being obese.
  • Obesity among 6 to 11 year olds has quadrupled over the last 25 years - over the same period, it has doubled for 12 to 19 year olds.
  • Type 2 Diabetes has increased to now represent 16% of all childhood diabetes, up from only 4% 15 years ago.
Join many teachers and staff who will be attending this important seminar. Babysitting will be provided by the SSPJ Girl Scout Troop 5112 with adult supervision.

BOOKS ON TAPE

If you volunteered for the "Books Make You Feel Good" program and have not received the blank audio tape with instructions, please call Mrs. Frasca. Thank You.

GERTRUDE HAWK FUNDRAISER

The Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser will be delivered on Monday, March 19, 2007 (this is also Market Day pick up). Please pick up your orders after school. Orders will be in the cafeteria. Please contact Mrs. Halm if you have any questions or concerns.

SSPJ RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP

On February 28th, SSPJ received a $250.00 tuition scholarship at the annual meeting of the HSA for the Diocese of Metuchen. Four $250.00 scholarships, two $500.00 scholarships and eight digital cameras with printers were raffled. The meeting was attended by Mrs. Hillhouse, Mrs. Halm, and Mrs. Walulik. Monsignor Corona was the keynote speaker. Monsignor Corona offered encouraging words about the future of Catholic education in our Diocese. The ladies attended various workshops regarding fundraising. The meeting was a wonderful opportunity to meet people from other schools, exchange ideas, and offer, as well as receive, encouragement and support.
