Brendan P. Opdycke Scholarship Funds
It is still not too late to donate to the Brendan P. Opdycke Scholarship Funds.
Last year, the Brendan P. Opdycke Memorial Graduation Scholarship Fund was created and given as a gift presented to a graduating
8th Grade boy planning to attend Bethlehem Catholic High School.
This year we established the Brendan P. Opdycke SSPJ Memorial Scholarship Fund to assist families of our elementary school students
who experience a change in financial circumstance during the school year.
If, after thoughtful prayer, you decide to make a donation, please write either "graduation" or "elementary school" on the memo line
of your check.
God Bless You and thank you to my wonderfl SSPJ family - I could not have made it through this school year without you. I am truly
blessed.

Campbell's Soup Labels
The Campbell's Soup Labels have been sent in for the 2007-08
school year. In total, we accumulated over 12,000 label points for the year! Thanks to all the SSPJ families who clipped and saved
labels at home which enabled us to reach this total. Please remember to keep saving labels over the summer to jumpstart our 2008-09
collection!
Girl Scouting at Saints Philip and James
We have just completed another great Girl Scouting year at Saints Philip &

like to find out more about Girl Scouting at SSPJ, please contact Mrs. Juliano by phone or email.
Many Thanks from Hunterdon County Medical Center
Dear Students,
Thank you so much for recording the books and donating them to Hunterdon Medical Center. I know they will make lots of kids happy!
It's very special to be willing to do things like this for sick kids who will really appreciate it. We are happy to accept donations

Three Days of Latin
will be held June 9, 10, 11 from 1:30-2:30 PM in SSPJ's Holy Family Library.
The value of Latin is immediate. Past studies have shown that younger students made big gains after exposure to Latin:
Strengthens basic English skills in vocabulary and reading comprehension.
Focuses on grammar which leads to improved English
writing and communications.
More than 60% of our English vocabulary is derived from Latin words. Knowing Latin is a sure way to build
a larger English vocabulary.
Encourages critical thinking and comparative analysis.
Students taught Latin 15 minutes a day for one
year score ONE FULL YEAR HIGHER on the Iowa Vocabulary Subtest than the control group (Philadelphia).
Studying Latin vocabulary brings
students in contact 'with word roots, prefixes, and suffixes which constitute 60% of all English words and 90% of those over two syllables long.
Open to grades 1-8 and parents - $45.00 for children/$75.00 for adults.
Contact Mrs. Gorman by phone or email or Mrs. Walulik by phone to register. Space is limited
to 20 students. Pre-registration is required by June 5, 2008.
