How do I get my name and password? You must attend a short meeting in which our Assistant Superintendant of Technology, Mrs. Ellis
describes Diocesan policies. You will then be provided a disclaimer to sign and be handed a name and password for each child in your family.
We have already held our two meetings for this year, but will notify you of a possible third and next year's meetings.
Why do I need to type my name and password twice? This is part of a verification process that helps keep your child's information
confidential.
Why aren't my name and password working? Check to make sure you are typing each letter and number correctly. The names and passwords
ARE CASE-SENSITIVE - each capital must be typed capital, each lower-case must be typed lower-case. If it still does not work, contact the school.
We will check that the information is correct or inform you of any reasons for changes.
Why don't the iCalShare and vCalendar work? The Diocese does not recommend use of this part of the program. It is a separate
service that is not directly provided through PowerSchool. If the Diocese decides to utilize this service, you will be notified of its availability.
How do I view my child's homework? When you see your child's grade, click it to view the assignments. The assignments will show a
'date due' and should be the last ungraded assignments in the list. *1st and 2nd grade, please look in your child's homeroom to see homework
for all classes.*
When will the grades be recorded for an assignment? Diocesan policy states that any teacher has up to one week from the date the assignment
is handed in to have the grade in the PowerSchool program. The assignment's description should specify if the teacher will not be able to have
the grade in by that time. If the grade has not been added within one week, you may email the teacher.
How do I email my child's teacher? You can email by clicking on the teacher's name in the PowerSchool program. If you are unable to
utilize this, the teacher's email is: last.first@sspjschool.org
Why is the grade average different for me? Many teachers use what we call 'weighted' grading systems.
For example, tests and quizzes may be worth a higher percentage of the grade than homework or classwork. Weighting grades will often change the grade
very noticeably, counting each type of work with a specific value. Teachers with weighted grades will try to input their weighting systems into
the 'class description' so that you can see the reason the averages look different.
